All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== 5/25/2003 Jeanne Walters Cook Jeanne Walters Cook, 79, of Cushing, died Friday, May 23, 2003 in Cushing Regional Hospital. Services will be May 27 at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Verlyn Snell, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. She was born Feb. 4, 1924 in Cushing to Louis and Dorothy Walters. She graduated from Cushing High School. She later attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Stephens College. She married William E. Cook on June 14, 1947. He preceded her in death after 54 years of marriage on Dec. 12, 2001. The couple owned several buildings in downtown Cushing. Jeanne Cook operated a bed and bath store called Macy's Collection. She was a long-time member of of the First United Methodist Church, where she served as president of the United Methodist Women. She was a past member of the Tri-Delta Sorority and served on the House Corporation Board of the Theta Gamma Chapter. She was very active in Girl Scouts; a member of PEO, D.A.R., the Geographic Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. She is survived by two children, Celia Meyers and her husband, Charles, of Cushing and Cynthia Kinzie and her husband, Allen, of Mannford; her grandchildren, Alisha Meyers of Edmond, Abby Meyers of Cushing, Jason Kinzie and his wife, Erin, of Cushing and Macy Kinzie Hollingshead and her husband, Blake, of Tulsa; and many other relatives and friends. Brett Anderson, Bill Ahrberg, Dr. Frank Denney, Steve Cochran, Ken Hibbard and Kris Kinzie will serve as pallbearers. Holly Tichenor will serve as organist and Denise Kinzie will be the soloist.
