Kyann Courtney, 16, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, 1206 S. Tyler, with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Steve Austin officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Miss Courtney was born Aug. 30, 1985, in Stillwater, Okla. She passed away at her home following an illness with epilepsy. In July 1989 she moved to Dalhart and resided there until Nov. 4, 1992, at which time she moved to Amarillo where she resided until God took her home. She attended Wolflin Elementary, Austin Middle School and was a sophomore at Tascosa High School. She was a beautiful young lady with much love and compassion for all, especially children and animals. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Pallbearers will be Dr. Vernon Rief, John C. Clemens, Doug Binham, Justin Banister, Denton Banister, Berry Bostick, Kenny Cranfill and Ty Shelton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lewis W. Purcell, Kathryn V. Purcell and Hal H. Courtney; an uncle Tommy Purcell; and a sister, Chelsey Kathryn. Survivors include her father, Quinn M. Courtney; her mother, Kitty Courtney; a sister, Kaylea Elizabeth Courtney; her grandmother, Sue Bird Courtney; an aunt, Shann Thomas; her cousins, Mathew and Haley Thomas; her stepmother, Sharon Courtney; her stepbrothers, Denton and Justin Banister; and a special friend, Charles Culp. The family suggests memorials be in honor of Kyann to Amarillo National Bank, Plaza One, Amarillo, TX 79101. The family will be at 3410 S. Lamar and all family and friends are welcome.
