All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== August 26, 2002 Billy Ray Courtright Sr. Billy Ray Courtright Sr., 64, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at his home in Pawnee. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church in Glencoe with the Rev. Fernando Padillo officiating. Poteet Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. Courtright was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Mehan to Edward Harold and Bessie R. Redfern Courtright. He had always lived in the Pawnee and Payne counties area and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Glencoe. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1958 to 1959. He married Melinda Beaver Hixson on Dec. 5, 1988, and they made their home in Pawnee. Courtright worked for Shelton Lumber Co. in Stillwater for 25 years and for Mercury Marine for several years before becoming an independent truck driver for New Prime Inc. He was a member of the National Trucking Association and was awarded the association's Million Mile Safe Driver Award. After retiring, he became interested in beekeeping and was a member of the Northeastern Oklahoma Beekeepers' Association. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father. Survivors include his wife, of the home; his mother, of Perry; six children, Heather Carpenter and her husband David of Morrison, Billy Courtright Jr. and Tammy Sauer and her husband Bob, all of Glencoe, Wayne Courtright of Enid and Judi Hixson and David Hixson and his wife Dawn of Perry; six grandchildren, Jarrett and Keidra Rodgers, Cassie Chapman, Dylan Hixson-Lewis, Braxton Hixson and Tommy Martin; and five brothers and sisters, Gertie Wheatley of Lucien, Ralph Courtright and his wife Rose of Edmond, Darlene Kuhn and her husband James of Glencoe, Nina Eyl and her husband Frank of Port Angeles, Wash., and Dean Courtright and his wife Sharon of Perry; and a number of other relatives and friends. *********************************************************************** Copyright c 2002 byBill Cook.
