He was 75. In addition to other firms, Davis worked for more than 10 years for Reed, Brady and Jarvis Adjusters. He handled auto accident claims, estimates and settlements. He retired in 1989. He was born in Stillwater, Okla. He moved from Fairfield to Petaluma and on to Santa Rosa in 1964. He moved to Windsor in 1972. Davis took a liking to Santa Rosa and Sonoma County when he was stationed at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds during World War II. His Army tank unit was involved in surveying the coast from Monterey to Eureka. He always had enough property to have horses. He rode, as did members of the family, according to his daughter, Marsha McAuliffe of Bothell, Wash. He had been a member of a sheriff's riding group. He and his wife were members of two motor home travel groups. Davis enjoyed camping and fishing. He also liked visiting the hatchery at Lake Sonoma. As a young man, he liked to whittle small items. McAuliffe said the family got Davis back into whittling in recent years so he could craft cowboy boots and other items as keepsakes for his grandchildren. He was a 33-year member of Christian Life Church in Santa Rosa. In addition to his daughter, Davis is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Davis of Windsor; other daughters, Carolyn Quinn of Yuba City and Cindy Williamson of Santa Rosa; his son, Dan Davis of Susanville; his brothers, Bob Davis of Vallejo, Ray Davis of Boise, Idaho, Jim Davis of Southhaven, Miss., and Bill Davis of Tulsa, Okla.; his sister, Dorothy Goad of Beggs, Okla.; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Another son, Dale Davis, was killed in Vietnam in 1968. He received his draft notice while on his honeymoon in 1967. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Christ Life Church, 920 Bennett Valley Road. Private burial will be at Santa Rosa Memorial Park. Memorial donations are preferred to the church.
