"Walter N. Dean, Former Oklahoman, Dies In Oregon

Walter N. Dean, a 40-year resident of Newberg, Oregon died Wednesday, May 27, 
1981 at a Portland hospital. He was 72.

Born the son of Mortin Dean and the former Elizabeth Pitzer Aug. 5, 1908 in 
Glencoe, Okla., Walter N. Dean grew up in Oklahoma and was graduated from high 
school in Stillwater, Okla. He had moved to Newberg in 1941 after being injured 
in an Oklahoma oil field. In Newberg he had worked on many homes as a carpenter 
and cabinet maker. he was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day 
Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Dean of Newberg; and his sister, Elnora Slater 
of Cushing, Okla.

Funeral services were held May 30 at Attrells's Newberg Chapel-Brown Funeral 
Home. Bishop William Heath officiated. Interment followed at Valley View 
Memorial Park in Newberg."
