All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== From the Stillwater Daily News-Press, Stillwater, Oklahoma (Payne County) Friday, June 18, 1954 Arrangements Are Pending On Crash Victim Funeral services for Claude Crail Driever, Stillwater business man who was fatally injured in a plane crash Thursday, were still pending arrangement Friday by Strode funeral home. The 36-year-old owner of Typewriter Exchange, 215 Knoblock, was a veteran of World War II in which he served as a first lieutenant on B-29's and as an aviation instructor. He was born at Hitchcock, Aug. 28, 1917 and was married to Eloise Vandruff, June 29, 1940 at Medford. Driever was a graduate of Hitchcock high school and attended the school of commerce at Oklahoma A & M college three years. He went into business at Watonga after the war and was awarded that city's distinguished service award for the outstanding young businessman of 1950. He opened the Stillwater store in 1950. Prior to entering the Army he was with the Stillwater Postal department. He was a member of the Methodist church, Watonga Masonic lodge, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, Hanner-Sharp American Legion post, Stillwater Lions club, Elks club, Watonga Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees and the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside memorial golf club and National Office Machine dealers. Survivors include the widow, and daughter, Claudette, of the home, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest L. Driever of Hitchcock; grandmother, Mrs. Henry Driever of Watonga; two brothers, Carl Driever of Hanna, La., and Staff Sgt. George F. Driever of Ft. Bliss, Tex., and three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Beauchamp of Watonga, Mrs. Clara Cordell of Oklahoma City, and Mrs. Dorothy Bridgeford of Watonga.
