All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +========================================================================+ Stillwater Gazette dated April 2, 1937 William McGuire Evans Obituary William McGuire Evans, 53, died Wednesday, March 24, 1937, in an Oklahoma City, OK., hospital. Funeral services were held at the Vincent Funeral home in Stillwater Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Smith of the Nazarene chruch of Chandler, officiating. Interment was in the Pawnee cemetery. William McGuire Evans was born July 21, 1883, at Kernstow, Frederick county, Missouri. His death came after an illness of about a year and a half. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Elizabeth A. Evans, and his wife's brothers, sisters, and families, who are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. W.S. Hoggatt and children, Denzel, Clifford and Dany; Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Hoggatt and children, Patricia and Wally Allen; Mr. and Mrs. William Cain and children, Alred, Mattie, Haward, Carl, George, Clarence, Frank, Pearl, Billy and Homer; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bowle and daughter, Donna May; Mr. and (newspaper error typed here and doesn't make sense) died Thursday morning, March 25, 1937. The one-time insurance man, whose play, Abraham Lincoln, won him international fame, died in his sleep. One of the most successful playwrights of his time and famous for such satirical playsas Abraham Lincoln, Oliver Cromwell and Robert E.
