Hetherington, 80, 911 East Second street, a longtime area resident and retired Shell Pipe Line Corporation employee, was at 3 p.m. Saturday in the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Robert Van House, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Dale Martin sang, "How Great Thou Art" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus." Mr. Kenneth Fowler played the organ accompaniment. Casket bearers were Harold Flint, and grandsons of Mr. Hetherington, David Hetherington, Larry Condley and Robert Harmon. Interment, under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home, was in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Mr. Hetherington, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ira F. Hetherington, was born August 27, 1891 at Cripple creek, Colorado. He came to Oklahoma with his parents in 1893, settling Southwest of Cushing, he had lived in this vicinity since that time, moving to 911 East Second Street July 4, 1972. He wad married to Mary Powell January 5, 1911 at Kansas City, Missouri, she preceded him in death August 8, 1951. Mr. Hetherington was employed with the Shell Pipe Line Corporation for 31 years, retiring in 1948. He was married to Bessie A. Taylor July 11, 1955 at Stillwater. Relatives who survive are his wife, Mrs. Bessie Hetherington of the home, one son, Ernest A. Hetherington, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, four daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Nora) Smith of Cushing, Mrs. Jim (Ethel) Hashimoto of Vineland, New Jersey, Mrs. Eldon (Dorothy) Brown of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Mrs. Orba (Alyce) Condley of Tulsa, Oklahoma, one step-daughter, Mrs. Virginia McAdoo of Mountain Home, Arkansas, two brothers, John and Roy Hetherington of New Mexico, two sisters, Mrs. Clarence Dwinell and Mrs. Alta Powell both of Cushing, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
