Hetherington, age 28 years, who died at an Oklahoma City clinic early last Saturday morning, were held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Patrick W. Murphy, pastor of the church in charge. Rev. Lewis R. Rogers, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, assisted him in the service. Miss Sara Lou Young and Miss Clara Jean Chadwick sang "In the Garden" and "Rock of Ages." They were accompanied by Miss Marcia Lee Young at the piano. Pallbearers were Kile Usher, Earl Evans, Lloyd Haskins, Lee Griffeth, Marvin James and Kenneth Blair. Hetherington, who was born and reared in Payne County, attended Cushing grade and high school and was graduated from the Ripley High School. He was at one time employed by Cooksey's Grocery here. A large floral offering banked the front of the church and a large group of relatives and friends attended the service evidencing the high esteem held for this young man. Burial under direction of the H. A. Davis funeral directors was made in the Fairlawn Cemetery on the family lot. Surviving relatives are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Grant Hetherington of Yale, one daughter Anita Kay Hetherington of Yale, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hetherington of Agra, two brothers, five sisters. One grandmother and other relatives. Ira Wesley Hetherington was born June 30, 1916 and he died May 19, 1945.
