Mattie E. Hetherington, 7-2-1946

Mrs. Mattie E. Hetherington, 75, well known pioneer, died this morning at the 
local hospital at 10:55 a.m. 
She had been in failing health for more than a year but had been seriously ill 
for the past two weeks. She was admitted into the Payne County Ma _______ 
hospital this last Friday.

Mrs. Hetherington was born in Missouri, September 14, 1870 and came with her 
husband to Oklahoma in 1892. They homesteaded nine miles west of Cushing and in 
1907 she moved to a farm 5 1/2 miles west of Cushing where she resided until her 
death. She united with the Christian Church early in life.

Rites will be under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home directors and will 
be announced at a later date pending word from relatives.

Surviving relatives include: three sons. Ernest Hetherington of Agra, Roy 
Hetherington and John Hetherington of Cushing. Three daughters, Mrs. Alta Powell 
of Drumright, Mrs. Ella Dwinell of Claremore. Mrs. Pearl Moss of the home 
address Rt. 2 Cushing, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other 
relatives. Mrs. Hetherington's husband preceded her in death in 1922.
