Jones CLAYTON, N.M. - Hazel C. Jones, 91, died Thursday, June 19, 1997. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Murphy, pastor of Clayton Church of God, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Ms. Jones was born in Yale, Payne County, Okla. She moved to New Mexico with her parents in 1907 and homesteaded south of Clayton in the New Home community. She attended school at New Home and Mansker and was a 1927 graduate of Clayton High School. She also was a graduate of Highland University in Las Vegas. She taught in several Union County schools as well as other schools in New Mexico from 1927 until retiring in 1971. She moved to Clovis and lived there until moving to Clayton in 1990. Ms. Jones was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis. She was preceded in death by a son, Gale Church, in 1990; and a daughter, Wanda Harris, in 1987. Survivors include a son, Jim Page of Clayton; two brothers, Chester Casida of Canon City, Colo., and Loyd Casida of Elephant Butte; two sisters, Dorothy Lynch and Vada Leighton, both of Elephant Butte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. ========= Amarillo Globe News 22 Jun 1997 Hazel C.
