Dorothy Iva (Drew)Lease 

Dorothy Iva Lease, 93, of Cushing, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in the 
Linwood Village Nursing Home in Cushing. Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. 
at the Church of the Brethren in Cushing. Brother John Holderread will 
officiate. 
Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Services are under 
the direction of Strode Funeral Home. 

She was born in Eureka, Kan., April 5, 1910 to Alva I. and Martha Ann (Frost) 
Drew. She married Lorin Robert Lease on Nov. 17, 1939 in Tulsa. He preceded her 
in death on June 3, 1983. 

She attended schools in Arkansas, graduating from Lowell High School in 1929.
 In 1937, she came to live in Stillwater. After the death of her husband she 
continued to live in Stillwater but moved to Roxie Weber Plaza in 1989. Then 
in 1991, she lived wtih her son and famly until 1996. In 1996, she went to 
live at the Rebekah Retirement Home in Checotah. Lease lived there for a few 
years and then went back to live with her son for a couple of months in Cushing. 
After living with her son for a couple of months, she moved to Linwood Village 
Nursing Home where she has lived since. 

She began attending Southside Baptist Church in 1946 and later attended the 
Church of the Brethren. 

She was a custodian for the Oklahoma State University physical plant, a member 
of the Rebekah Lodge, IWLA, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was a Stillwater 
Elderly Nutrition Site volunteer. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ione 
Vianna Burk. 

She is survived by her son, Robert Dale Lease and his wife, Roxanne Inez, of 
Cushing; two grandchildren, Kimberly Gowens of Venice, Fla. and Jennifer 
Mattingly of Stillwater; and three great-grandchildren, Michael Mattingly 
and Joshua Mattingly, both of Cushing; and Matthew Gowens of Venice, Fla. 

Pallbearers will be James Mattingly, David Tucker, Fred Robinson, Charles 
Holderread, Dean Stump, Dale Wolff, Jeremy Gowens and Leray Stiles.
