Mayfield, 93, of Stillwater, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 at Grace Living Center. Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Randy McGehee will officiate. Interment will be at the Iowa Chapel Cemetery southwest of Perkins. Strode Funeral Home is directing the services. She was born Oct. 9, 1909 in Crowder City to William E. and Maria Bell (Wyant) McKinzie. She married Orial C. Mayfield on Oct. 9, 1928 in Chandler. He preceded her in death in 1975. Mayfield moved with her family to the Stillwater area in 1928. She and her husband farmed in Lincoln and Payne Counties until 1943. After leaving the farm, they moved to Tulsa and in 1944, moved to Stillwater. She was a housewife and her hobby was gardening. She took great pride in her flower garden. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and her family was her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Kenneth O.; an infant son and daughter; two brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by two sons, Gerald Glenn and his wife, Laveta, and Junior Lee and his wife, Patricia, all of Stillwater; two daughters, Lavona Mehan and her husband, John, and Imogene McGehee and her husband, Donald, all of Stillwater; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Payne County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/payne/payne.html
