RICHARD NEWTON MATHIS 

OCNS - April 20, 2002 - Funeral services for Richard Newton Mathis, 65, of 
Cushing, Oklahoma, will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2002 at the Palmer 
Funeral Home Chapel in Cushing with interment to follow at the Mount Hope 
Cemetery north of Ripley, Oklahoma.   Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing is in 
charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mathis was born August 4, 1936, in Cushing where he received his early 
education and attended Cushing High School.   He was employed with the 
City of Cushing and was a member of the Keystone Pigeon Racing Club.

Mr. Mathis died Wednesday, April 17, 2002, at the Cushing Regional 
Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Rick Mathis of Cushing and Rocky Mathis and 
wife, Debbie of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two brothers, Howard Gandy of Pryor, 
Oklahoma, and Kenneth Gandy of Roaring River, Oregon; three grandchildren, 
Aaron, Ryan and Norah Mathis.   He was preceded in death by his parents 
and by one sister, Lorraine.
