All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Area Pioneer Woman Dies: Funeral Set Mary Elizabeth (McCanley) Munns Was 82 Years Old Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Munns, 82 year old Cushing pioneer of 124 W. 2nd. St., died suddenly Sunday afternoon at the Cooper Rest Home in Drumright following a heart attack. She had been in failing health several weeks. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Fairley Funeral Home. Burial, under direction of the Fairley Funeral Home, will be in the New Zion cemetery. Mrs. Munns born Jan. 25, 1890 in Harrisburg, Kan. Came to Indian Territory with her parents who had bought a relinquishment on a Homestead North of Cushing where Fairlawn cemetery is located. She was married to Robert Munns of Stillwater, and he preceded her in death in 1950. They lived north of Cushing for 20 years, and later moved to the Happy Valley community where they lived for 30 years. In 1948 she moved to Cushing. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. W. A. (Ethel) Ritter of Claremore, Mrs. Alfred (Edna) Meyer of Cushing, Mrs. F. W. (Mamie) Dahike of Kansas City, Kan. And Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Rodebush of Drumright; two sons, Dave Munns of Tulsa and Elza Munns of Ontario, Calif; one sister, Mrs. Martin Hurst of Tallahassee, Fla.
