All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm +========================================================================+ Norman Transcript 10/23/2003 Bettie Lee (Grandy) Montgomery Bettie Lee (Grandy) Montgomery, 78, of Norman died Wednesday, Oct. 22, in Norman. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westmoore Community Church in Moore with the Rev. Paul Cunningham officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Havenbrook Funeral Home in Norman is handling arrangements. Mrs. Montgomery was born Nov. 3, 1924, in Cushing, to Francis Solomon and Lurinda Lenora Stewart Wilson. She grew up in Cushing and graduated from high school there in 1942. She served in the Women's Army Corps for two years during World War II. She married William Roy Montgomery Aug. 29, 1952. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Muskogee and Oklahoma City for 35 years, retiring in 1985. After Mrs. Montgomery retired, she worked at Remington Park for three years. She moved to Norman from Oklahoma City in 1988. She was part owner of a race horse and an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing bingo, bunko, cards and going to Las Vegas and Tunica, Miss. Mrs. Montgomery's family said her life centered around her grandson, Kyle. She was a member of Westmoore Community Church and a former member of the Business Professional Women's Club. Mrs. Montgomery was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; one sister; and one brother. Mrs. Montgomery is survived by her daughter, Michaela Bishop and husband, Marion, of Norman; sisters, Ethel Gililland of Cushing, Norma Gooding of California and Bonnie Treibel of Arizona; brother, Joseph Francis Wilson and wife, Nelda, of Tulsa; and grandson, Kyle Bishop of Norman.
