Phillips, 87, Perry, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Grace Living Center in Stillwater. Memorial services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Gerald Stewart officiating. Services were under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. Phillips was born March 14, 1915, in Newton, Kan. He was the son of Samuel Clayton and Minnie (Vesper) Phillips. He was a graduate of Newton High School and an airplane mechanic for Frontier Airlines for 24 years. He married Eileen I. Hollander Feb. 14, 1983, in Perry. He also was a member of the First Baptist Church, secretary of the Masonic Lodge and president of the Grandparents' Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Lauren Phillips and his wife Ada, of Sedwick, Kan. and Bill Phillips and his wife Doris, of Manhattan, Kan.; three stepsons, Richard Hollander and his wife Mary, of Walters, Leonard Hollander of Perry and Ray Hollander of Baggs, Wyo.; five stepdaughters, Patty Ritthaler and her husband Randy, of Stillwater, Nancy Hurst and her husband David, of Chickasha, Linda Miller and her husband Allen, of Orlando, Brenda Woolery and her husband Troy, of Perry and Judy Koch and her husband Bruce, of Perry; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Largent, 74, of Sand Springs died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at the Sapulpa St. Johns Hospital. Graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, east of Cushing. Services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing. Largent was born July 27, 1927, in Cushing, to Hershel R. and Dona (O'Kelley) Largent. He received his education at the Oak Grove and Cushing schools. He worked at the Eagle Pitcher Mines in Miami, had worked for the Fairley Funeral Home in Cushing and also was a foreman at the Texaco Refinery in Tulsa where he worked for 35 years. Largent was a good neighbor and friend. He loved to help people and was the sort of person who had a talent to do most anything he decided to undertake. He was an excellent male nurse having worked a short while as an orderly in a hospital; this was to his advantage as he devoted himself to the care of his wife who was ill for a very long time prior to her death. Survivors include, dear friend and caretaker Pat Rhodes of Sand Springs; daughter, Anita Curry and husband Carroll of Atlanta, Ga.; one grandson, Keith Curry; and one granddaughter, Ashley Curry, both of Atlanta; Aunt Christie Anderson of Cushing; several cousins including Mike Anderson and Gale Anderson, both of Cushing. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Beaulah Pearl 'B.P.' Hauptfleisch Beaulah Pearl "B.P." Hauptfleisch, 81, died Sunday, June 30, 2002. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in First Christian Church with the Revs. Jon Goeringer and Curtis Mason officiating. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. The family will greet friends in Memorial Chapel of Davis Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Hauptfleisch was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Cushing, to George W. and Viola Mae Polk Morgan. She was raised and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1939. She later attended Oklahoma City Beauty College and received a degree in cosmetology. She married R.G. Hauptfleisch Aug. 25, 1945, in First Christian Church in Cushing, and the couple resided there since that time. Hauptfleisch worked as a beautician in her home for many years, retiring in 1987. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church and was active with the Women's Fellowship at the church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as chaplain for several years. Hauptfleisch was an avid bridge player and belonged to many different bridge clubs over the years. She loved to work in her flower garden and enjoyed cleaning her home, shopping and being with her two grandchildren. She never met a stranger and will be deeply missed in Cushing. Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter, Marsha Maison and husband Steve of Stillwater; one brother, George Morgan and wife Betty of Cushing; one sister, Wanda McKinney of El Reno; one granddaughter, Megan Maison of Orlando, Fla.; one grandson, Mace Maison of Stillwater; two nephews, George W. Services will be under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing. Born Nov. 18, 1935, in Thayer, Mo., to Elby and Bernice (Grooms) Blankenship, he received his early education in Carney and was a graduate of the Carney High School Class of 1953. He was married to Evelyn (Hopson) June 3, 1954, in Chandler. They made their home in Oklahoma City and lived until moving to Cushing in 1968 and have since resided. Blankenship was a mechanic at the Oak Tree Country Club in Edmond for 27 years. His parents preceded him in death. Survivors include wife Evelyn of the home in Cushing; two sons, Roy J. Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Gardens South of Stillwater. Funeral services are under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing. Robinson was born Jan. 7, 1920 in Hallett to Keller and Iva Della (Fowler) Robinson. He received his early education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School Class of 1941. He was married to Nadine Joyce (Fulps) on August 15, 1942 in Pawnee, Oklahoma. They lived in Pawnee until moving to Payne County and the Cushing area in 1959. They lived in Cushing until returning to Pawnee to live in 2001. Robinson was a Farmer and Rancher and had worked for Dell Crocker in Pawnee and Claude Broyles and Charles Ripley in Ripley. He was a member of the Mehan Union Church. Survivors include: three sons, B. Fitchett was born Sept. 30, 1915 in Billings to Earl and Lilah (Davis) Fitchett. She graduated from Billings High School and Oklahoma A&M with a master's degree. She taught school for 44 years and was a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association and the KKI Sorority. She was predeceased by her parents; one sister, Faneta Fitchett; and one brother, Glenn Fitchett. Survivors include one sister, Wanda Smith and her husband Estle of Okmulgee; one sister-in-law, Nona Belle Fitchett of Billings; three nephews; and two nieces. Wallace McFarland, 81, Mesa, Ariz., died July 31, 2002. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry. The Rev. Tim Boggess will officiate. Visitation will be at Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 2621 S. Rural, Tempe, Ariz. A family visitation also has been scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brown-Dugger Funeral Home in Perry. Born in Kiefer on Nov. 17, 1920, McFarland graduated from Perry High School. A World War II veteran, he was a quality control inspector for Cessna Hydraulics in Hutchinson, Kan., for more than 20 years following his first career as a surveyor and crew manager for seismograph companies. McFarland was an accomplished wood and metal worker and a recognized inventor with patented and licensed creations ranging from log splitters to calculators for ultrasonic weld inspections. He was a kind, gentle and generous soul who taught all by deeds, not words. McFarland was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce McFarland and Marsett McAnally. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Lee; one son and daughter-in-law, James W. and Diana A. McFarland of Tempe, Ariz.; two sisters, Opal Evans and Wanda Phillips, both of Oklahoma; one brother, James A. McFarland of Oklahoma; four granddaughters, Cynthia McFarland, Shelly Daniels and Tami Rameiez, all of Lawrence, Kan., and Debra Adkins of Independence, Mo.; three step-grandchildren, Kathleen and Kevin Keith and Kayleen Coker, all of Tempe, Ariz.; a daughter-in- law, Yolanda Cook of Tonganoxie, Kan.; 12 great-grandchildren; and 20 nephews and nieces. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard Gene Barker Former Ponca City resident Richard Gene "Dick" Barker, 57, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, in Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. A memorial service will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Grand Avenue Church of Christ. Mr. Larry Keirm will preside. Interment will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Lonoke County, Ark., under the direction of Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Barker was born in Rusk County, Wis., on Aug. 24, 1944, to Carl and Marion Barker. He grew up in Glen Flora, Wis., and graduated from Flambeau High School. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was regional sales manager for Farm Fresh Dairy for 13 years. He married Rebecca Hall on July 14, 1985, in Hot Springs, Ark. They moved to Ponca City in 1991. In 1997, Barker started USA Bottling Co., which he and two partners operated for five years. He and his wife moved to Edmond in 2001. Barker loved Oklahoma State University basketball, old clocks and, most of all, his family and friends. His strong faith was evident in his deeds. He had a unique quality of knowing what was truly important in life. He understood that family and friends, rather than material possessions, gave life meaning. He always had a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye as he answered the question, "How are you?" with the response, "Perfect in every way." That is precisely how his friends and family felt about him, considering themselves richer for having had the privilege of knowing him. Barker was a member of Grand Avenue Church of Christ in Ponca City and Live Covenant Church in Edmond. He was active in Southside Neighbors Association and the Iris Festival. Last May, he and his wife fulfilled a lifelong dream by driving through Alaska. He was predeceased by his parents; his son, Randy Barker; a sister, Pat Igowski; and a brother Edgar Barker. Survivors include his wife; his children, P. Interment will follow in Lawson Cemetery in Yale under the direction of Yale-Palmer Funeral Chapel. Nasalroad was born in Quay on Jan. 13, 1922, to Frank and Rosa (Dixon) Ford. She lived all her life in the Quay-Yale area. She was a member of the Church of God in Yale and was an active worker in the church. She was also a member of the Payne County Extension Club. She loved crafts, embroidery and traveling. Her family was the most important thing in her life. She was predeceased by her parents, five brothers and one sister. Survivors include her husband, Earl Donnie Nasalroad of the home; one son, Clifton Dale Nasalroad and his wife Arlene of Yale; three daughters, Clara Rosalee Morrow and her husband Finley, Donna Ruth Nasalroad and Helen Rose Elliott and her husband Clifford, all of Yale; two brothers, Arthur Ford and his wife Judy and Frank Ford and his wife Judy, all of Yale; three sisters, Minney Ashley of Cushing, Lucy Myrick of Conroe, Texas, and Lena Alsip of Odessa, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and nine great- grandchildren. Hurst, 89, Cushing, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Park Place Baptist Church in Cushing. The Rev. Tony Black will preside. Interment will follow in Tryon Cemetery under the direction of Palmer Funeral Home of Cushing. Hurst was born Sept. 2, 1912, in Lincoln County to Mr. and Mrs. Milt Hurst. He attended grade school at Pleasant Ridge, four miles west of Chandler in Lincoln County. He met Vera Opal Walters at the Quaker Church in Lincoln County, and they were married in Kansas City, Kan., on Aug. 10, 1934. They were married 66 years. They had one daughter, Vicki Faye, on Oct. 14, 1945. The couple traveled for 12 years doing exploration for gas and oil with Handley Drilling Co. in Tulsa. In 1947, they settled in Cushing, where they lived until their deaths. Hurst worked as a Meadowgold milkman for several years. He then worked as warehouse foreman for Cushing Grocery Co. until he retired in 1974. He was active member in Park Place Baptist Church. He was chairman of deacons for approximately 30 years. He served as training union director, RA leader, and Sunday school teacher. Hurst loved to travel. He and his wife visited 49 states, somehow missing Rhode Island. They took trips and cruises to Hawaii, South America, the Caribbean, all the provinces of Canada and Israel. The Hurst family is very musically talented and enjoyed many times of visiting and playing music together. Hurst played the guitar, fiddle, harmonica, oboe, cello and piano. He enjoyed all types of music and loved playing with his father and brothers. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Vera; his parents, Milt and Marilla Hurst; seven brothers, Wetzel, Doral, Herman, Clifford, Cletus, Clifton and Curtis; and two sisters, Jewel and Pearl. Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Henderson of Cushing; two granddaughters, Tammy Warrior and Tanya Minor; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah and Zac Simpson, Ariel and Ashley Minor and Anthony, Aaron, Adrian, Daniel and Karissa Warrior; two brothers, Fred Hurst of Ponca City and Calvin Hurst of Collinsville, Colo.; and one sister, Christina Earp of Briton. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home of Perry. There will be a family visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Chenoweth was the son of Clark B. and Anna (Christensen) Chenoweth. He was born Sept. 16, 1913, in Carmen. He married Alta Maida West Dec. 20, 1936, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Perry. He was a salesman for the Shuler Fruit Company selling fresh fruits. He also was a salesman for the Keebler Cookie Company selling cookies. He was named the top salesman of Oklahoma for the Keebler Cookie Company. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. He and his wife enjoyed camping and were members of the Airstream Club, Rolling Rockers and Good Sam Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Patricia Conway of Mapleton, Ill., Nancy K. Smith of Garland, Texas, and Donna Beckman of Tulsa; one son, Col. Edd Preston Chenoweth of Germany; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Chenoweth of Perry and Clark B. Chenoweth of Tulsa; and five sisters, Luella Gregg, Dorothy Ewy, Bobbie Horton and Mary Goodwin, all of Perry and Libbie Norton of Sapulpa and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran School. Sherman 'Sherm' Fry Sherman Neal "Sherm" Fry, 51, Ponca City, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City. Funeral service will be today at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Trout Funeral Home, Ponca City, with Rev. Ed Coy Light, pastor, Grace United Methodist Church, Oklahoma City, officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, Ponca City, with members of Troop 5, Boy Scouts of America, rendering honors. Fry was born Feb. 15, 1951, in Vinita, the son of Charles Herbert and Esther Gertrude Dawson Fry. He attended schools at Pryor graduating from high school there in 1969. He attended the University of Central Oklahoma, Rose State College, and the Northern Oklahoma College where he earned an associates degree. In 1990 he earned a bachelor of science in mechanized agriculture from Oklahoma State University. Prior to his retirement due to ill health, he worked as a purchasing agent for an electronics company. On Aug. 9, 1980, he and the former Kathy Irene Godsey were married in Ponca City. Fry was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and had served as a cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 17 and at the time of his death was an assistant scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 5. Additionally he had earned the B.S.A. Woodbadge. He held amateur radio call sign KI5IF and was a member of the Kay County Amateur Radio Club. His hobbies included scouting activities with his boys, amateur radio, astronomy, genealogy, storm spotting and gardening. Additionally, he had served as a Boy Scout merit badge counselor. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife of the home; two sons, Bill Charles Fry and John Edward Fry, both of the home; a daughter, Abby Lynn Fry of the home; a brother, John Charles Fry, Ponca City; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Casketbearers will be Fred Spellman, Bill Schula, Steve Connelly, Tom Wolf, Peter Hay and Devon Lechtenberg. The family will be at 2105 Kyme, Ponca City. Jerry Staley Jerry John Staley, 61, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. A memorial service for his family and friends is to be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist Church in Yale. He was born Dec. 9, 1940, in Drumright. He grew up and attended school in Yale. He worked as a contractor and a carpenter throughout his life in Yale, Stillwater, Oilton and the surrounding area. He is predeceased by his father, Johnny Leroy Staley. He is survived by a wife; his children, Gayle Dean Staley of Irving, Texas, Lee Wayne Staley of Wisconsin, and Tina Renee Staley of Yale; his mother, Edith Lucille Staley of Oilton; one brother, Jimmy Wayne Staley of Oilton; and one sister, Bonnie Sue Cook and her husband Jerry of Stillwater; three nieces, two nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews. Hawks, 78, Cushing, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at his home. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Walnut Valley Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado, Kan. Rev. Wade Graber will officiate. Services are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Hawks was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Osborne, Kan., to Andrew Hawks and Osceola (Koontz) Hawks. He grew up in Midian, Kan. and graduated from Midian High School. He later attended Butler County Junior College in El Dorado. He played minor league baseball in south central Kansas for several years. He served in World War II in the U.S. Navy after attending junior college. He was married to Ramona Hanson Sept. 21, 1950, in Newkirk. They had three children, Rana, Kama and Andrew. Hawks worked for Beechcraft in Wichita, Kan., before moving to Cushing in 1953 with his family. After moving to Cushing, he worked for Midland Refinery, Hudson Refinery and Southwest Labs of Cushing. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He was very active in his grandchildren's activities and also enjoyed fishing and golfing. He was better known as "Pa" by his grandchildren, never missed any of their events - whether it be music, dance, soccer, baseball, football, cheerleading, Run for the Mums, drama plays, dance team and graduation. He completed their lives as much as they completed his. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Leonard Dalton Hawks. Hawks is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Rana McCoy and husband Scott, Stillwater, Kama Martin and husband Kenny, Cushing; son, Andrew Hawks and wife Anna, Stillwater; 10 grandchildren, Barry McCoy, Kara McCoy Willman and husband Jeremy, Kayley McCoy, Kale McCoy, Cam Martin, Clint Martin, Christal Martin, Hunter Hawks and Hayden Hawks; two great grandchildren, Madison and Avery Willman; brother, Andrew Hawks and wife Juanita, El Dorado, Kan.; sister, Ila Lucinda Harwick and husband Keith, El Dorado; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1954. In 1974, she earned her BA with honors in journalism and secondary education from Kearney State College. In earning her degree, she demonstrated an amazing commitment to realizing her dream while juggling and balancing its pursuit with an equally full-time commitment to her family and work. In 1984, she married W. Luis Cass in Yankton, S.D. She was a widely respected teacher and mentor to young people. She taught for a number of years at Amherst High School in Amherst, Neb. While teaching in Amherst she was a volunteer speech coach at Red Cloud High School. She coached a number of district and state speech and debate club winners and champions. She also taught classes at Kearney State College. In both these capacities she was known throughout the state and honored for both her professionalism and innate ability to help young people excel, increase their self-esteem and grow into adulthood. She was a life-long lover of education. She went on to be a highly successful private business owner, visionary and entrepreneur. In 1981, she opened mid-Nebraska's first acrylic nail salon in Kearney. She quickly developed a stellar reputation and a highly loyal clientele. Some of her clients traveled 200 miles to enjoy the Nail Garden's personal and professional services. She opened a second salon in Grand Island. She sold both after almost 12 years and was recognized as a success by the business community. Love of family and a commitment to indomitable spirit allowed her to repeatedly triumph over a number of long-term medical conditions including cancer. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one brother. She is survived by her husband of Sutton; children, Jon Armstrong of Woodbridge, Va., Virginia and Jamie Shipman of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandsons, Ryan, Gregory and Phillip. After working in laundry cleaners for several years, she then went to work for the Bernhardt family as their housekeeper. After retiring in her late 70's, Coe spent much of her spare time in the outdoors, fishing, hunting and camping. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church. She developed an interest in natural health and alternative medicine and pursued studies in herbalism, Reiki and gourmet vegetarian cooking, which she sometimes demonstrated for groups. Her love of nature led her to learn wilderness awareness and tracking. She led trips for the Appalachian Mountain Club. She is preceded in death by her father, Donald C. Abbott of Stillwater. He graduated from Oilton High School and served in the U.S. Navy for five years. On Sept. 27, 1958, he married Monema Casey. They lived in Waukegan, Ill., and then Stillwater, where Shaw graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963 with a degree in ag economics. He worked as an economist for the U.S Department of Agriculture in Oklahoma City, Florida and Washington, D.C. After retirement from the USDA, he remained in Oklahoma City and worked in real estate and sales. Shaw was a warm, loving Christian man of strong character who will be greatly missed. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, walking and attending cultural and sporting events. He was a longtime member of Putnam City Baptist Church. He later married Leslie Lynn Murphy Garringer on Sept. 16, 1980, in Dallas. They had one son, Colby Torres. Torres worked 45 years for H.B. Zachary Construction Co, of San Antonio, serving two tours with the company in Jamaica. He moved to Glencoe from Euless, Texas. He enjoyed cooking out, family get-togethers, fishing and working. He lived in Bartlesville, Cushing and Ponca City before moving to Stillwater in 1944. He loved his family, fishing, Oklahoma State University sports and Southwestern Bell. Taff was born Feb. 1, 1921, near Dustin to Ed and Lillie (Coleman) McKinney. She was the oldest of 12 children. She grew up in Dustin and attended P.S. 32 Graham School in Weleetka. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1942 with a degree in home economics and went to Stigler to teach. She married James Maurice Taff, her lifelong friend and love, on Aug. 21, 1942. He was stationed in California at the time, and she left her teaching position to be with him in January 1943. After the war, they returned to Oklahoma, where she taught at Dustin Schools. When he finished his degree, they taught at Addington and Fanshaw. In 1952, they moved to Ada, where she became the dietitian at East Central State College. She held that position for 33 years before retiring in 1983. The cafeteria at ECU is named the Virginia Taff Cafeteria in honor of her services there. Taff was active in the Garden Club and loved working in her yard. She sewed beautifully, making lovely clothes and fun costumes for her children. She loved to cook and can and share the results with her friends and family. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Ada and dedicated many years as a Sunday school teacher for sixth and eighth grade girls and the Lydia Class. She was active in WMU after her retirement. In 1994 the couple moved to Stillwater where they were members of First Baptist Church. She was part of Erwin Mission Group. She was predeceased by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Dale, Bruce and Joie McKinney; and a sister, Dorothy Ann McKinney. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the U.S. Navy as a 2nd Class Petty Officer E-5. He was a machine gunner on a B-29 bomber as the front nose gunner with the 108th Bombing Squadron and flew missions in the Pacific. He married Georgia L. Shaw in 1951. They moved to Stillwater in 1960 where they lived for 40 years until 2000. While living in Stillwater Duff worked for 35 years as an assistant division engineer for the Oklahoma Highway Department and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, retiring in 1983. They moved to Lititz in 2000 where they had lived since. He enjoyed fishing, bird watching, reading and baseball. While in Stillwater Duff was a member of Sunnybrook Christian Church and in Lititz was a member of Abbyville Christian Church. Duff was predeceased by his parents, and sister, Wanda Nuttle. The couple resided in several different communities, but following his retirement in 1986, they had resided in Ripley since that time. He worked for Oklahoma State University, the University of Houston and for Lola Community Junior College in Lola, Kan. prior to receiving his Doctorate Degree in Educational Administration. Courtright was born Feb. 4, 1938, in Mehan to Edward Harold and Bessie R. Redfern Courtright. He married Melinda Beaver Hixson on Dec. 5, 1988, and they made their home in Pawnee. Courtright worked for Shelton Lumber Co. in Stillwater for 25 years and for Mercury Marine for several years before becoming an independent truck driver for New Prime Inc. He was a member of the National Trucking Association and was awarded the association's Million Mile Safe Driver Award. After retiring, he became interested in beekeeping and was a member of the Northeastern Oklahoma Beekeepers' Association. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his father. She received her early education in Olive Schools. She was a lifelong resident of the Yale and Silver City areas and worked as a caregiver. Rusco was married to Carlos Stoops, who died in 1997. She was a member of Yale Assembly of God. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; one daughter, Lila Moore; and one son, Stephen Moore. Survivors include one son, Charlie Moore of Quay; one daughter, Carolyn Sims of Silver City; five brothers, Harvey Rusco, Harry Rusco and David Rusco, all of Silver City, Bill Rusco of Yale and Paul Rusco of Drumright; two sisters, Juanita Reed of Oilton and Jencie Felix of Silver City; four granddaughters, Teraca Prough of Maramec and Holly Moore, Heather Moore and Amy Moore, all of Quay; and two great-granddaughters, Ashley and Journey, both of Quay. She was oldest of six children and was born in Ralston Nov. 10, 1908, to Charles and Maggie (Bell) Pittser, She married Herman Meissner March 26, 1926, in Skedee. He died in 1973. She attended the rural school of Spring Valley, south of Ralston and lived most of her life in Pawnee County. After she was married the couple made their home in the farming community of Pawnee County. She was a homemaker and an avid quilter. She enjoyed friends and her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pawnee. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased her parents, two sisters, two brothers, three infant sons and a daughter-in-law. She is survived by three sons, Ray Meissner of Oklahoma City, Louis Meissner of Stillwater and Wayne Meissner of Lathrop, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one brother, Robert Pittser, Cedar City, Utah; two sisters-in-law and a number of other relatives and friends. The couple had four children, Leo, Chester Jr., Charlotte Louise and Barbara D. The family moved to Denver. She married Earl Nevins in 1970. She worked for Presbyterian Hospital for 23 years. She was a strong spiritual warrior and loved her family above all else. She was a people person and loved bingo, casinos, shopping and travel. She was a member of Eastern Star and Mount Zion Baptist Church. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was predeceased by one brother and one sister. She was also an early 4-H member in Noble County and was a member of the Extension Homemakers Group of Wimodausis for over 60 years. She enjoyed attending many dress revues and farm and home weeks at Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater and raised champion Black Australorp chickens. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, May 16, 1986; her parents and three brothers. Survivors are one son, Larry D. She was reared in the Maramec area, attending grade school and high school there. She married Clarence Embry Sept. 18, 1938, in Maramec. The couple would have been married 64 years this year. She attended Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, finishing with an elementary certificate. Embry taught at Lone Elm, Blue Valley and Maramec during World War II. She was saved and baptized at a young age in the Maramec First Baptist Church. In 1973, she joined the First Baptist Church in Yale. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and enjoyed embroidering. She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Nora and one brother, Quincy. He was born in Turkey, Texas, Nov. 22, 1932, to Johnnie R. and Lillie Mae (Payne) Seales. He married Dorothy Crowson and they were later divorced. He married Lenora Swisher in Stillwater in August 1982. She preceded him in death on Oct. 1, 1995. He married Laquita Kizziar on Nov. 6, 1997. Seales grew up in West Texas and following high school, joined the Navy and served from 1951 to 1955. He then became a top salesman for every company he represented. In 1972, he moved to Stillwater and became a business partner with Don Roberts. Together they owned and operated several different successful businesses in the area. Seales never met a stranger and his favorite pastime was sharing life with his expansive circle of family and friends. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the Elks Lodge and a former member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his second wife; two brothers; one granddaughter, Jordan Seales; and one step-daughter. He is survived by his wife Laquita; three sons, Randy Seales and his wife Argel of Stillwater, Johnny Seales Jr. and his wife Susan of Ponca City and Joel Seales of Stillwater; six step-sons, Sid Kizziar and his wife Terry of Ft.
