Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel. Pastor Hance Dilbeck will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. Reynolds was born June 26, 1917, in Wagoner to John Emery Reynolds and Leola Evelyn (Williams) Reynolds. He attended Wagoner Public Schools and served in the Civilian Conservation Corp. in the mid 1930s prior to moving to Drumright. He married Viola Spencer April 7, 1939, at Chandler. He began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company Jan. 15, 1941. He relocated to Ponca City and worked in the Outside Construction Department until May of 1949, when he was transferred to Stillwater as Outside Service Foreman. He remained in this position until September 1968 when he was transferred back to Ponca City to the Engineering Department. He remained in this position until he retired in June of 1979, after 38 and one half years of service. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Ponca City and a member of the Men's Fellowship Class. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 83 of Ponca City and the Telephone Pioneers of America where he had earlier served in the positions of president and vice president. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Andrew Clayton Reynolds, Troy F. Reynolds, Joseph D. Reynolds, James P. Reynolds, Howard Reynolds; and one sister, Loriene LaHue. He is survived by his wife, of the home; one son, Dr. Donald E. Reynolds and wife, Hedi, of Memphis, Tenn.; one sister, Dorothy Herman; one granddaughter, Kristin Renee LeVoyer, and husband, Dr. Thomas LeVoyer; two great grandchildren, Sean Matthew and Avery Nicole LeVoyer; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Hudson Holder, Coolidge Campbell, Wallace Weaver, San Cauthon, Tom Skaggs and Forrest Radcliff. Tilley, 93, of Purcell, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, in Louisville, Colo. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with Rev. John McLemore officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. She was born Nov. 12, 1907, in Sulphur to Joseph J. and Mary Baird Shaw. She was the first baby born in Sulphur after Oklahoma became a state. Since early childhood she attended the First Christian Church and remained active in the church throughout her life. She married Carl Tilley June 18, 1933 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death in 1994. Having her masters degree in education, she taught school for many years in Stillwater and Wichita, Kan. After retiring in 1969, she and her husband moved to Purcell to be close to their family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 10 brothers and sisters. He was born in Union, Miss. on Oct. 22, 1922, the son of the late Oliver Lindell and Mattie Sue Harper Smith. He grew up in Guymon. He graduated from high school in 1941. After high school, he attended Panhandle State University in Goodwell. Smith served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was on the first invasion of the Phillipines. After service in the army, he lived and worked in New Youk City as an interior designer for F.W. Schmacher from 1947 to 1977. Upon retiring, he moved to Rocky Mount, N.C. Surviving are brothers B.J. Smith, Stillwater; George Harper Smith, Westminster, Colo.; and three nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. July 5 in Yale in the high school gymnasium. He was born August 26, 1964 to Terry and Norma Pope in Cushing. He attended Yale Schools for 12 years where he was active in Beta Club as paper editor and a delegate to the national convention. He served as a class officer including vice-president of his senior class. He was chosen FHA Royalty and voted Best Dressed. He also participated in chorus, Honor Society and yearbook staff. He attended Oklahoma State University and Harding University. He was recognized as a talented musician and songwriter. Billboard Magazine awarded him with an honorable mention for his composition "I Owe It All To You" in 1991. His relatives and friends enjoyed sharing his music. He was preceded in death by his sister Amber Pope and his maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Skaggs. He is survived by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Father Bill Powell will officiate and interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under direction of the Strode Funeral Home. She died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at the Integris Baptist Medical Center. She was born July 3, 1944, in Enterprise, the daughter of William (Bill) and Lena Elizabeth (Bradshaw) Jackman. She graduated from Wapanuka High School and then attended a beauty college in Ardmore. Later she attended Oklahoma State University for a short time. She was a proofreader for the Daily Ardmorite for a time. She then became a bookkeeper for Exxon. She then moved to Stillwater where she began working for the City of Stillwater Parks and Recreation Department. Later she became secretary to the Fire Chief for the City of Stillwater working there until her retirement. She loved bingo, bowling, gardening and fishing. She married Ronald Couch Oct. 20, 1962, in Marietta. She held membership in the Women of the Moose, Eastern Star, and Jaycee Janes and was a youth bowling coach. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Jackie Jackman; her sister, Lena Mae Watson and her brother-in-law, Bob Adams. Survivors include her husband, Ronald; one son, Dane Mark Couch of Tulsa; one daughter, Crystal Potter and her husband Kerry of Stillwater. She is also survived by three brothers, Houston Jackman of Grove, Burl Jackman and his wife Wilva of Atoka, and Ronald Dale Jackman and his wife Dianne of Union City; and five sisters, Billie Parker and her husband Winton of Grove, Lavonia Short and her husband Jim of Claremore, Diane Perrymore and her husband Greg of Moore, Joyce Adams of Milburn, and Johnnie Gail Knight and her husband Larry of Atoka. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the Bah-Kho-Je Chena. Interment will be at the Iowa Tribal Cemetery southeast of Perkins. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Murray was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Perkins to Franklin M. and Martha (McGlaslin) Murray. He was a combat veteran of World War II. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Jan. 23, 1943. He answered the call to serve in the Armed Services at Camp Swift, Texas, in the 206th Engineer Combat Battalion. They trained to become an expert rifle marksman and a soldier engineer to row troops across rivers under heavy enemy fire and keep them supplied by building bridges. They were trained to build ferry boats large enough to carry medium tanks and tank destroyers across rivers and how to destroy the enemy's bridges. His destination was the European Theater of War. In June 1944 his battalion boarded ships bound for German occupied France and as a part of the D-Day Invasion of Normandy, landed on Omaha Beach. Sgt. Murray supervised the building of timber bridges, prefabricated bridges and laying and recovering mines to destroy enemy emplacements and roadblocks. His unit captured groups of German Infantry and with other feats, they were recommended for the Presidential Unit Citation. During a truck and traffic jam he met Gen. George Patton. After the war, this scene was depicted in a highly acclaimed movie. Wallace served in battles and campaigns of Normandy D-Day, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. Among his war decorations and citations are the European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and Four Bronze Service Stars, World War II Victory Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Dec. 3, 1945 and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Perkins Post 7322. He was employed with several pipeline companies. He later served in the ranks of the Iowa Tribe of Oklahoma as an elected tribal chairman and also held the elected position of vice chairman and tribal treasurer. His leadership in the Iowa tribal government contributed greatly to the progress and advancement of the tribe's economic base and welfare of the Iowa people. Murray carried the Indian name of A-wo-the-gle (Made Tracks) and was of the Bear Clan. He was a member of the Iowa Indian Baptist church. As a combat veteran, he earned his rightful place in the ancient Warrior Society. He attended the country school of Pleasant View (Buzzard Roost) and Perkins High School. He is survived by his sisters, Mae Murray Sine, Perkins; Ethel Murray Staley, Perkins; three nieces, Jackie N. Young, Perkins; Gabrielle A. Sine, Perkins; and Donna Murray, California; five nephews, Rickford R. Sine and Perri V. Ahhaitty, Perkins; Levi D. Murray, Jr.; Frank J. Phillips, age 85, of Stillwater, died Monday, July 2, 2001. Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Valley Center. Arrangements are being handled by Baker Funeral Home in Valley Center. Born Feb. 5, 1916, in rural Valley Center, Kan., she moved with her family to Towanda, Kan., in 1921. She and her twin sister Evelyn were co-valedictorians of the 1934 class of Towanda High School. After attending Butler County Junior College, her formal education was completed at Kansas State University in 1938, graduating with a degree in Home Economics. In 1939 she married the Russell E. Phillips and moved to Wichita, Kan. She was a resident of Valley Center from 1952 to 1998. In August, 1998, she moved to Stillwater to be near her son and his family. She was a resident of Stillwater Christian Villa and until recently resided at Renaissance Assisted Living Center. She was an untiring worker in the Valley Center First United Methodist Church where she served on local, district and conference committees of the Ladies Aid Society, Women's Society of Christian Service and the United Methodist Women. She served as a director of the Missionary Education Tour for eight years (1959-1967) and taught fifth and sixth grade Sunday school classes for eight years and the adult Homebuilders' Class for a number of years. She served the Kansas West Conference School of Missions for 25 years and was its audio visual director for many of those years. She also served as Missions Chairman for eight years. In addition, she was an honored contributor and director of Youthville. Phillips was also active in 4-H, serving as photography project leader for the Sunnydale, Valley Victors and Furley Clubs for over 25 years. She also served as a judge for photography exhibits at the Harvey, Butler and Cowley county fairs. She served as president of the Valley Center PTA and pack leader for Cub Scouts and Brownies. She was preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Rosalind in 1955, her parents, Harry W. Wilson Sr., in 1967 and Vena Hamilton Wilson, in 1976, her husband, Russell, in 1982, her elder brother, Melvin, in 1996 and her twin sister, Evelyn, in 1999. She was a member of the Christian Church of Marland and enjoyed her children, cooking and traveling. Prayer services will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cultural Center. The Traditional Indian Feast will be held at noon Sunday followed by committal service in the Otoe-Missouria Cemetery under the direction of the Trout Funeral Home. Whitehorn was born on Jan. 10, 1020 in Red Rock, the son of Charles and Hattie (Tohee) Whitehorn. He attended Pawnee Indian Boarding School and Haskell Boarding School before joining the Army in December of 1940. In addition to receiving many honorable metals, he served in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe before being honorably discharged in 1945. On June 8, 1946, he married Elsie E. Springer and they made their home in Red Rock. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching OU and OSU football games. Whitehorn also liked to fish, play BINGO and was especially fond of spending time with his grandchildren. He was a faithful member of the Native American Church of Red Rock and greatly enjoyed worshiping in the Spirit. Being strongly dedicated to his Lord, he was a wonderful witness to all those who were around him. He is preceded in death by parents; his wife; and son, Ronnie Whitehorn. Poteet Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born in Pawnee Nov. 4, 1959, to Arthur and Lynn Dooley Robinson. He attended Pawnee Public Schools and graduated from Edmond Memorial High School in May 1978. He worked as a truck driver and for several years owned and operated Sooner Lake Store in Red Rock. He also owned and operated Bear Enterprises, Inc. He was a second generation bulldozer operator and once stated, "I've played in dirt my whole life." He will be remembered for his big heart, his humor, kindness and generosity to everyone. He was predeceased by his parents. Moody El Reno resident Lloyd R. Moody died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Services, with Rev. John V. He was born in Chickasha Sept. 8, 1930, and grew up there and in El Reno. In 1950, he married his wife, Betty. He was a former class A superintendent with the North Texas Golf Course Superintendent Association and a golf course superintendent for various clubs in Chickasha, Altus, El Paso, Texas, Bowie, Texas, Graham, Texas, and Moody's Arbor Links in Arvada, Colo. He was also a former member of the PGA and the oldest ever, at 60, to qualify for the Seniors Tour. He played the Senior Tour in 1991 and 1992. He also loved to fish and loved his family with all his heart. Riechert Helen L. Riechert, 95, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Grace Living Center. Graveside services with Rev. Pat Sutherlin presiding will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the El Reno Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. She was born May 17, 1906, in Edinburgh, Ind., to Guernsey Roy and Lillie May Thompson. The family moved to El Reno where she was educated and graduated from El Reno High School May 25, 1925. On March 8, 1929, she married Virgel M. Riechert at the First Christian Church in El Reno. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and spent many hours with her C.W.F. group cooking church dinners in the church kitchen. She worked for several years with the El Reno School lunch program. She and her husband enjoyed delivering mobile meals. She liked cooking, sewing, ceramics and crocheted many pieces that will be keepsakes for generations. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, a brother, LeRoy Thompson, and two sisters, Inez Hahn and Ann Schottler. Survivors include her daughter, Catherine Rice, and her husband, Jack, of Stillwater; her son, Jack Riechert, and his wife, Marcia, of Andalusia, Ala.; four grandchildren, Victor Rice and his wife, Donna, of Katy, Texas, Hal Rice and his wife, Alica, of Kingswood, Texas, Lynn Kutter and her husband, Kevan, of LeGrange, Ga., and Laura Adams and her husband, Stephen, of Newberry. Miller-Stahl Funeral Service is directing the arrangements. He was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Hammond, Ind. He was raised by an uncle, Domingo Perez, and a grandmother, Eulogia Lopez Perez. He grew up and was educated in Newkirk. After he graduated from high school, he worked at the Jay Bowman Conoco Station and later at the DX Service Station. He eventually was employed by the Santa Fe Railway. On July 9, 1935, he married Pauline G. McGaha in Winfield. She died March 8, 1992. They established their first home in Newkirk and, in 1940, moved to Wichita, Kan., where he was employed by Boeing. They returned to Newkirk in 1945 and he began his employment with Conoco in Ponca City. After working for Conoco for 35 years, he retired in 1977. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and was a member of IOOF for many years. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Maranda. Survivors include three daughters, Marcelee Welch of Pawnee, Donna Dunn of Jenks and Marva Jo Wolf of Newkirk; eight grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Maj. Horace Ware Jr., 79, served his country in the military for 41 years and one month. He died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Strode Chapel, Charles W. Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. Ware was born Nov. 30, 1921, in Bartlesville to Horace Ware Sr., and Pearl (Covey) Ware On Dec. 2, 1939, he married Charlena Elmore in Pawnee. Ware's military career included two years in the Navy, 19 years in the National Guard and 19 more in the Army Reserve. His military career began during the era of pre-World War II campaign. He was released from active duty as a corporal before the attack on Pearl Harbor and returned home in time to register for the draft. Later he became an officer in the National Guard. When the Korean War began, he was called back to active duty to serve on the front line. He served there from December 1951 to the spring of 1952. After serving as the executive officer in an infantry battalion of the 45th Infantry and promotion to lieutenant colonel, Ware reverted to the inactive ready reserve in 1969. He resigned his commission in May 1970 and was assigned as an operations sergeant for the 2nd Brigade of the 95th Division in Enid. In 1974 he transferred to an intelligence sergeant slot at the 3rd Brigade Headquarters and was promoted to command sergeant major in October 1978. Ware retired from his position as command sergeant for the 2nd Battalion of the 3rd Brigade in Ponca City in November 1982. He was also a retired carpentry superintendent of the OSU Physical Plant. Ware was a member of the Christian Church, VFW, American Legion and Stillwater Boat Club. He was predeceased by his parents and two sisters. Adaline Blank Adams A memorial service for Adaline Blank Adams former Cushing resident was today in the Rose Chapel of the Boston Avenue United Methodist Church of Tulsa. A longtime Tulsa resident, she died Friday, July 6, 2001. The daughter of E.J. and Alma Blank, she was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Ripley and had her early education in Cushing where her father was a banker. The family was active in the Presbyterian Church of Cushing. She attended Cushing schools and graduated from Ferry Hall High School a finishing school at Lake Forest, Ill. She was a graduate of Mills College, Oakland, Calif.; and later graduated from Tobe' Cloburn Merchandising School in New York City, before being employed with Lord & Taylor department store. As a young woman she attended Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, and was a graduate pilot of the Women's Air Force Service Pilot (WASP) in Sweetwater, Texas. Her husband, Robert William Adams, was with Adams and Leonard Realtors of Tulsa. He died in 1973. She was a charter member of the Rev. John Robinson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and a former State Indian Chairman of DAR, and on the Board of Trustees of Bacone College of Muskogee. Other memberships included Philbrook Art Museum, Tulsa Philharmonic, Tulsa Opera Guild, Tulsa Historical Society, Five Tribes Museum, Air-Space Museum and was a Gillie Volunteer for Gilcrease Museum. Lowry, considered the "Father of Stillwater" died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center. Memorial services, under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home, will be announced at a later time. He was born in Pawhuska Oct. 21, 1909, to Orlo C. and Edith Christine (DeGolyer) Lowry. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1927. and received his B.S. degree from Oklahoma A and M in 1931. In 1938 he received his M.S. from Oklahoma A and M. and in 1958 received his Ed.D from the University of Indiana. While attending Oklahoma A and M he was on the debate team, his major interest, which led him eventually to express his views on current topics in the "Letters to the Editor" in the Stillwater NewsPress under the pen name "Chief Pinfeather." He was also a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Pi Kappa Delta and Pi Omega Pi. He taught business in Vinita High School in 1934-1935 and in Guthrie High School in 1935-1936. He was professor and head of the Division of Commerce at Panhandle A and M from 1936 until 1943 and from 1945 to 1946. He became professor of Service Schools at OSU in 1943-1945 and was also professor of business education. From 1951 until 1956 he was head of the Department of Business Education at OSU. He retired from OSU July 1, 1975. While at OSU he was a member of the Graduate College from 1961-1965; chairman of Teacher Education Group of Graduate Faculty from 1963-1965; Council of Teacher Education from 1962-1964; member of the Policy Committee on Business and Economic Education from 1962-1968 and was chairman in 1967. He was a member and president of National Oklahoma Business Education Associates in 1946-1947; a member of the National Association of Business Teachers and Oklahoma Education Association. He was also national treasurer of Delta Pi Epsilon from 1948-1951, the National Vice President in 1960-1961 and National President in 1962-1963. He was predeceased by his parents and one grandson. He was 58 when he died Thursday, June 28, 2001, following a brief illness. A prominent member of the Odessa community, he was chief appraiser - executive director of the Ector County (Texas) Appraisal District at the time of his death. His service was in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home of Odessa. Rev. Michael A. Jasper officiated. The son of James Tony Goodwin and Joan (Wilcoxon) Goodwin Skaggs, formerly of Cushing, he was born Feb. 10, 1943, in Sherman, Texas. Both parents have predeceased him. Following his secondary education he joined and served in the U.S. Air Force for seven years. He took his Bachelor's degree from Oklahoma State University and then his Master's from Angelo (Texas) State University. In May 1979 he came to Odessa as the Deputy City Tax Assessor-Collector before moving to the position with Ector County a year later. He and the former Pamela Blair were married Dec. 23, 1989, and had made their home in Odessa where they raised their three daughters. Goodwin was president of the Odessa Rotary Club at the time of his death. Members of that organization served as honorary pallbearers. He was a registered professional appraiser of the Board of Tax Professional Examiners, a registered professional member of the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers, a certified environmental inspector of the Environmental Assessment Association, a member of the State Board of Professional Tax Examiners, a certified instructor and former adjunct professor-political science at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Goodwin was involved with numerous professional and community organizations and associations including being on the Board of Directors of Seabury Nursing Center and a past secretary and a former director of the Downtown Odessa Rotary Club. Surviving is his wife, Pamela of the Odessa home; three daughters, Tonya Jewitt and husband Dr. Alfred Jewitt of Collinsville, Texas and their three children; Joan Johnson and husband Clay Johnson of Longmort, Colo. and their three children, and Melissa French of Alexandria, Va. Bryan J.P. (John Pershing) Bryan died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Stillwater Medical Center. Services, with Rev. He was born in Cushing March 31, 1918, to E.J. and Louisa Harrison Bryan. He received his early education in Cushing and later attended Claremore High School. He graduated as valedictorian from Foyil High School. He received a degree in marketing from Oklahoma A and M. Following graduation he was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. Before being called to active duty with the Navy during World War II he was manager of the Firestone store in Enid. He served with the Navy for three-and-a-half years primarily in the South Pacific, specifically the Soloman Islands and Guadalcanal. He was decorated at his next tour of duty in Pennsylvania. He retired from the Navy reserves with the rank of commander. On Nov. 4, 1941, he married Dorothy Irene Ridings. Bryan was a former member of the Stillwater School Board and served as secretary to the Board of Affairs in Oklahoma City. He was a prominent member of the Stillwater business community. For 22 years he was a partner in Bryan Motor Company, the Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealership and later owned Bryan Automotive. In 1968 he became a real estate broker and was active in the real estate business until his death. He was the first realtor in Stillwater to receive GRI designation. He was also a member of Frontier Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite Consistory An active member of Eagle Heights Baptist he served as trustee. He was a former chairman of the Mission Committee at the First Baptist where was a member for more than 61 years. Bryan was ordained a deacon at the First Baptist Church in 1949 and served on several committees during his membership. He was chairman of the Search Committee to call a new pastor on two occasions. After his family, his passion was teaching Sunday school. He taught Sunday school classes for all ages for more than 54 years. Bryan was an active supporter of Oklahoma State University athletics, especially the wrestling program. In 1938 he attended the first wrestling match in Gallagher Hall and was present for the first wrestling match i in the newly renovated Gallagher-Iba Arena. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Judson and Mary Bryan; his parents; and a granddaughter, Heather Kirby. She was a hard working woman and was proud of her job during the WW II era. She worked for Wright Aeronautical Corp. in Cincinnati, Ohio, making parts for B17 bombers. In Stillwater, she owned and operated the Paradise Ranch Children's Nursery for over 20 years in addition to owning and managing a real estate rental business. She always tried to help others in a variety of ways, such as taking food to the needy, nursing the elderly, babysitting children overnight so parents could keep their jobs or telling people a story or joke to make them laugh. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Stillwater and a firm believer of Vacation Bible School. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, exemplary friend and will be sorely miss and never forgotten. In 1967, they moved back to Hutchinson, Kan., and then to Stillwater in 1988. She worked alongside her husband in their business, GK Electronics. She enjoyed crafts and was a homemaker. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church of Pawhuska. She was born in Cleveland Oct. 28, 1911. She was the daughter of O.V. and Josephine Mullendore. Her biological mother, Golda Botcher Cribley Mullendore, died when she was an infant. She moved with her parents to Stillwater in the 1920s. She later attended Oklahoma State University where she majored in art. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She was in business in Pawhuska for more then 45 years as the owner of Lowry's, Inc. and was also a co-owner of Lowry's Patio Shop in Bartlesville. She was an active member of the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce and was honored as The Outstanding Businesswoman of the Year. She was the first women elder elected to the First Presbyterian Church in Pawhuska. She was also a founding member and past board member of the Pawhuska Golf and Country Club and was an officer of various local clubs and associations. In 2001 she was honored as a 50 year member of P.E.O. She inherited a love of retailing from her father. The interaction with the public that owning a business provided was one of her greatest joys. Reading, music and nature were also active interests. She will be remembered for her love of family, friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by a brother, Fred Mullendore and a son James David Lowry. She was born Oct. 13, 1920, at Joy Community, Murray County to William Jasper and Mary Ada (Sims) Clure. She married Sidney D. Williams Sept. 1, 1940, in Wynnewood at his parents' home. She was a hard working woman and was proud of her job during the WW II era. She worked for Wright Aeronautical Corp. in Cincinnati, Ohio, making parts for B17 bombers. In Stillwater, she owned and operated the Paradise Ranch Children's Nursery for over 20 years in addition to owning and managing a real estate rental business. She always tried to help others in a variety of ways, such as taking food to the needy, nursing the elderly, babysitting children overnight so parents could keep their jobs or telling people a story or joke to make them laugh. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Stillwater and a firm believer of Vacation Bible School. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother, devoted grandmother, exemplary friend and will be sorely miss and never forgotten. She was blessed with very special friends: Theo and Anne Marie Goldenberg, Jim and Judy Goldenberg Ramsey and Nate and Laurel Goldenberg. Arrangements are under the direction of the Palmer Funeral Home. No services scheduled. Elledge was born Oct. 24, 1907, in Springfield, Mo., to Ella Davis Elledge and Joseph Alexander Elledge. He moved to Mannford when he was five years old. He was educated in Mannford Schools and Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater; he completed two years. Elledge was reared as a Methodist but changed to Christian Science early in his marriage. He worked for Dresser Engineering as a construction foreman for nine years and worked in many states in the Northeast and Midwest and Canada. He then joined Mobile Oil (Magnolia Petroleum) in Sundown and Snyder, Texas, and Hobbs, N.M., in construction and production for 33 years. He married Ettabethany Novella Williams, Cushing, May 2, 1935, in Covington, Ky. Their first child, Hugh Barry, was born in August 1945 in Sundown, Texas. Their second child, Tamara Novella, was born in June 1947. They resided in Texas and New Mexico for 31 years and retired in 1972. Elledge and his wife moved to Cushing in 1975 and became active in the Christian Science Church, local politics and the Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Shrine and Shrinettes. He was a charter member of the Lions Club in Sundown, Texas, and was active with the De Molay and Rainbow Girls in Snyder, Texas. He was also a charter member of the Eastern Star in Sundown. He was a member of the Cushing Lodge, no. 111, a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Adkar Shrine in Tulsa. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Alexander Elledge; his mother, Ella Davis Elledge; brothers, Ray, Guy, Hoy, Claude and Oscar Elledge and one sister, Mildred Martin. He considered everyone his neighbor. ******************************************************************** July 18, 2001 ******************************************************************** Walter 'Dub' Metcalf Walter Raymond "Dub" Metcalf, 83, died Monday, July 16, 2001, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Kincannon Funeral Home Chapel Altus. Rev. Harold Metcalf officiated. Burial was at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home. Metcalf was born July 27, 1917, to Walter Raymond Metcalf Sr. and Emma Geneva Curb in the Metcalf Community, eight miles north of Gould. He attended the Hollis public schools from the first grade until graduation from high school in 1937. He had a love for all sports and played on teams throughout his grade school, junior high school and high school. In high school, he played quarterback on the outstanding 1935 and 1936 football teams and was the state champion half-miler on the track teams both years. In January 1937, he married Geraldine Spradling in Altus and at the time of her death, they had been married for 63 years. For 38 years, he served as a deacon in the Thomas Street Church of Christ here in Altus. He devoted many years to benevolence ministries in his community. By the time he was 13, he was working in the grocery store after school and on Saturday with his dad and older brother. He finished his apprenticeship as a butcher in Hollis at Kirby Corner and in "Doc" Charlton's grocery store during 1938 and from then until 1944 applied his trade in Paul Metcalf's grocery. Metcalf served his country from May 1943 to October 1944 in the U.S. Navy in San Diego as a U.S. Navy Petty Officer and was assigned to the Boot Camp Ship's Company to train other recruits in the fine art of butchering. With his induction, all five Metcalf brothers were in military service. After World War II, Metcalf opened his own grocery store in downtown Hollis and operated his business until 1954. He moved his family to Altus in 1954 and ran a neighborhood store on East Pecan Street near Eugene Field School. He once said, "I didn't know it then, but I had invented the 7-11 type convenience store." After 20 years as a grocer, Metcalf continued to work as a semi-retiree, for Moore Wholesale Grocery in Altus and owned and managed a number of affordable housing units. In 1983, he fully retired and devoted more time to his avocations, golfing, fishing, gardening, spoiling, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In a letter to his 1937 high school class at their 50th Alumni Celebration he wrote "Our four children have made our life complete." He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Geraldine; a sister, Hazel Dickerson; and two brothers, Paul and James Metcalf. Graveside services were Thursday at 9 a.m. at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. A memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. at the Central Community Church, where he was a member. Downing and Lahay Mortuary West were in charge of the services. Cullers was born on Sept. 8, 1925 in Orlando to Oles and Maude Knott Cullers, the youngest of four children. When the family was displaced by the construction of Lake Carl Blackwell in 1937, the moved to Glencoe where he graduated from Eureka School in 1943. Upon graduation, he was drafted into the army and served in the South Pacific Islands until the end of war. When he returned home, he found work in Wichita, Kan. and established a home there. He worked for Axel and Wheel Aligning Shop; he retired after 42 years. He married Audrey Pearl Rodgers in 1954. Cullers taught a youth Sunday School class for many years. He was a mentor to many young people. Cullers was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Audrey, son David, and daughter Colleen. Cullers is survived by his daughter Pam and son-in-law Brad Wright, McDonough, Ga.; two grandchildren, Grant and Audrey Lane Wright; three sisters, Margie Liste, Josephine Lowe, and Lucile (Sally) Murphy. He was born Feb. 3, 1946 in Arak, Iran to Mohammed and Nosrat (Naraghi) Shamsollahi. He attended schools in Arak, Iran and served in the Iranian military for two years after secondary school. He came to the U.S. in 1971 and studied pre-engineering at Southeastern State College in Durant. He married Jackie Panek Jan. 4, 1975 in Durant. He moved to Beaumont, Texas and received his masters degree in industrial engineering at Lamar University. He returned to Durant in 1978 and worked at Peabody Gallion. In 1980, he moved to Tulsa and worked at Crosby- McKissick. Later he lived in Sunnyvale, Calif. and Pensacola, Fla. employed by the Westinghouse Corp. in the defense industry. In 1986, he moved to Lake Tahoe, Nev. and owned operated a Texaco station and car wash. In 1990, he established Sham's Press and operated it until returning to Oklahoma to become self-employed as an investment broker. He enjoyed fishing, flower gardening and gourmet cooking. He will be fondly remembered by friends and family for his practical jokes. He was preceded in death by one brother, Essy. She was reared in Yale and graduated from Quay High School. She was untied in marriage to Raymond Lamb on Dec. 20, 1941. To the union, three sons, Johnny, Ron and Don, were born. Raymond, her husband of over 58 years, preceded her death on June 14, 2000. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Cushing for over 50 years. Lamb taught Sunday School for over 40 years, and had been the director of the 4-year old Sunday School class for many of those years. She and her husband were very involved in taking care of funeral dinners for the church families. She was very active in the Vacation Bible School and active in the Payne county Sheltered Work Shop. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting, and cooking. Lamb is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, Alfred Eagles and Albert Eagles; and one grandson, Ryan Lamb. Cook, 79, Stillwater, died in a one car automobile accident Sunday, July 22, 2001. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, where he had been a member for 45 years. The Rev. Stan Warfield will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Colonial Chapel Funeral Home. Cook was born on April 22, 1922 in Geary to Jake and Gina Mae (Sullivan) Cook. As a child, he lived Wichita, Kan. and Greenfield where he graduated from high school. Cook continued his education at Cameron State Agricultural College in Lawton. He entered the United States Army on Oct. 29, 1942. During this time, he served in the South Pacific including the invasion of Okinawa. He was given a Honorable Discharge on Dec. 18, 1945. On Sept. 27, 1946, he married Norma Jean Bowman in Oklahoma City. They had been married 54 years at his passing. After marriage, they moved to Watonga where Cook was employed as a Soil Conservation Aid in the United States Indian Service. He also taught for the Oklahoma Veterans Agricultural Training Program in Anadarko. In 1952, Cook was hired as Farm Shop Instructor by Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College. He taught ag-mechanics classes at OSU to more than two generations and retired in 1986. Cook had a wonderful retirement that included working with cows and cutting hay. He traveled extensively with his wife to England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Brussels and all 50 United States. He will always be remembered for his honesty, hard work, sincerity and positive outlook on life. He is preceded in death by one brother, Gene Cook; two sisters, Juanita Cook and Grace Marie Bar, as well as both parents. He was born in Maple Nov. 19, 1910, to Atha (Ross) and James A. Taylor. He grew up in Sallisaw where he married Reba Berniece Cheek. They had been married 69 years when she died in December 1999. For several years he owned a dry cleaning business in Sallisaw. He later moved to Stillwater where he worked as an electrician. During World War II he moved to Texas and worked on the battleships used in the war. He returned to Stillwater and began working as an electrician for Oklahoma State University. Later he became the building engineer at the then new Edmon Low Library. He operated the OSU football scoreboard until he retired. He was a high school football, basketball and baseball official for many years. He also coached "Murphy Mites" little league baseball and basketball teams After he retired he and his wife traveled and enjoyed the winters in south Texas and Arizona. In the summers they spent time in New Mexico and Colorado. They loved to meet there with friends and family and loved trout fishing and hunting. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. In his younger years he sang with a Southern Gospel Quartet. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by his parents, stepmother, two brothers, four sisters, three step- brothers and one grandson, Brad Durham. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Cushing with Dr. Lonny Lee officiating Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. She was born May 20, 1910, in Tacoma, Wash., to Guy Earnest and Nellie (Jones) Fisher. She graduated from Oilton High School in 1927 and attended business school and Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. She worked at Federal National Bank, Sears and was Montgomery Ward's first cashier in Shawnee for seven years. She also worked for attorneys George C. White and Richard J. Stead, and for over 20 years with attorney Sterling Grubbs. She had also served as Payne Deputy Court Clerk. On March 10, 1929, she married James Manville Sharp in Sapulpa and together they owned and operated McCoy's Jewelry for over 18 years. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 62 years, and in 1999 received a national award for 60 years of perfect attendance. She was also a member of Payne County Legal Secretaries. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mildred Rogers. Survivors include one son, James M. Sharp, Jr. and his wife Connie of Oklahoma City and Phillis Gooding and her husband Dale of Cushing; one sister, Wilma Naiga of California; four grandchildren, Anne Yancey, J.M. Sharp, III and his wife Linda, all of Oklahoma City, Julia C. Portillo and her husband David of Issaquah, Wash. and Michael Gooding and his wife Celaine of Oklahoma City; nine great-grandchildren, Sarah Yancey, Michael Yancey, David Yancey, Amber Gooding, Shae Gooding, Caitlin Sharp, Bayleigh Sharp, Faith Portillo and Isaiah Portillo; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1002 North Cleveland in Cushing. Interment will follow in the Silver Star Cemetery. Davis Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born in Cushing to Gravey Fennon and Ruby Moore. He was their eighth child and sixth son. He attended Booker T. Washington School where he played the baritone horn in the band and marched in many parades. He also played the guitar as a hobby. He was employed by Hugh Karsteter at the Cushing Veterinary Clinic for 10 years. He lived briefly in Winfield, Kan., before moving to California. He first settled in Los Angeles and later moved to San Diego where he lived 33 years. He worked as an animal technician for the Scripps Research Laboratory for 15 years until his health caused him to seek other employment. He was last employed as a cook, chauffeur and caretaker for his elderly landlady. His first marriage was to Jimmie Lou Douglas. They made their home in Cushing. After moving to San Diego he met and married Patricia Seals who remained devoted to him until his death. "Big Charles" as he was affectionately called by his brother, Wallace, had a good and generous heart. He was especially kind to the elderly, the derelict and the downtrodden. He would give the shirt off his back but did not like to accept favors from others. He was most fond of children and claimed Patricia's grandchildren as his own. He was the family news connection. Although he rarely ventured far from his home he reached out by phone keeping everyone informed about what was going on in the family. He was jovial and humorous and brought much laughter to everyone. He was predeceased by his parents. In addition to his wife of the home he is survived by six brothers, William and his wife Alberta of Wichita, Kan., Willard and his wife Audrey of Oklahoma City, Wilbert of Gardena, Calif., Wallace and Winford, both of Oklahoma City, and Erskine of San Diego; five sisters, Odette Scobey of Oklahoma City, Marva Morris and her husband Melvin Sr., LauraLou Pierson and her husband Robert and Mary Moore, all of Cushing, and Emma Moore of Carson, Calif; an aunt, Wilma Freeman of Oklahoma City and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and numerous friends. He received his early education in Cushing and graduated from Cushing High School. He attended Oklahoma State University. He had worked as a surveyor and as a security guard. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He was predeceased by his parents and one brother, William Morris. Survivors include two brothers Edward Morris of Cushing and C.R. Tribal rites will be Monday evening at the Sac and Fox Community Center in Stroud. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Hunter Cemetery east of Cushing on Country Club Road. Palmer Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. He was born in Pawnee on Aug. 25, 1950, to Albert Sam Sr. and Oma Hunter Patrick. He received his early education in Cushing and attended Drumright High School. He was a veteran of the Army and was employed with the Turnbow Horse Trailer Co. in Drumright. Survivors include one son, Wesley Albert Sam of Carney; a sister, Mary Alice Sam, of Cushing and his mother, also of Cushing. ******************************************************************** July 31, 2001 ******************************************************************** Peggy Louise Martin-Hoepker Perkins resident Peggy Louise Martin-Hoepker, 73, died Sunday, July 29, 2001, in Perkins. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery in Ponca City. Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. She was born at Irron, Texas, Dec. 8, 1927, to Lester and Belle (Barrett) Dooley. She married Henry L. Martin in January 1944 in Ponca City. They were later divorced. She married Robert Hoepker in Tenn. in April 1980. He died in December 1989. She attended school in Newkirk After she married her first husband the couple moved to Ponca City. She moved back to Newkirk in 1972 where she met and married her second husband. She moved to Perkins in 1996. She was a Catholic and was employed in private home health care. She was predeceased by her parents, husband and her sister. Survivors include two sons, Jim Martin of Ponca City and Earl Martin of Stillwater and two daughters, Patty Smith of Lebanon, Tenn. and Connie Eddings of Arizona. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor John Cawlfield officiating. Interment is under the direction of Strode Funeral Home. She was born Oct. 13, 1959, in Stillwater to Melvern and Norma (Van Bebber) Rupp. She attended school in Treynor, Ia., then moved to Stillwater in 1980, where she met Arvin Thames, the father of her children. She enjoyed caring for others, working for many of the area nursing homes. She also worked for Grimsley's and was a cook for Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Her greatest joy was her children. She was preceded in death by her mother. Survivors include her significant other, Elmer Bolden; her father of South Sioux City, Neb.; two sons, Alonzo Rupp of Stillwater and Aaron Rupp of Stillwater; one daughter, Stephanie Rupp of Stillwater; one grandchild, Elijah Rupp of Perkins; two brothers, Craig Rupp of South Sioux City, Neb. and Scott Rupp of Shoreview, Minn. and one sister, Marla Ruark of Stillwater. A rosary service will be held in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Father Mike Cashion will officiate. The funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Leo Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Graham was the son of the late George Graham and Genevieve Wilson Graham and was born July 22, 1915, in Columbia, Penn. He came to Oklahoma with his parents and family in 1927, settling in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen High School. He was united in marriage to Rosemary Sellman Sept. 30, 1940. He entered the United States Army in August 1942, serving with the 111th Field Artillery Battalion, 29th Infantry Division in the European Theater. Graham and his family moved to Cushing in 1954, where he worked in the auto parts business until his retirement in 1982. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle man by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Eugene Graham and grandson Joshua "Cody" Linch. Graham is survived by his wife Rosemary of the home; three sons, Michael Graham, Woodbridge, Va.; Greg Graham and wife Pat, Tulsa; Billy Graham,, Cushing; two daughters, Janice Gray and friend Ralph Sprague, Oklahoma City; Melissa Shofner and husband Ray, Cushing; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Gray, Jenni Millwee and her husband Breck, Lindsey Graham, and Joe Butler; one sister, Della Triplett and her husband Dan of San Diego, Calif.; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
