Dorothy Jane Henderson Smith Dorothy Jane Henderson Smith, 85, of Norman, OK. Our heroic mother transcended this life September 15, 2006 to join the Kingdom of Heaven. Her 40 year battle with cancer is over. Dorothy was born in Oklahoma City, OK, August 1921. She was the daughter and only surviving child of Eugene and Mabel. She attended Classen High School and the University of Oklahoma. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, with a minor in music. She played the bass drum in the Oklahoma University Marching Band and loved to fly Piper Cubs. She married Stanley D. Smith of Norman, OK in 1948 in Albuqueque, NM. From there they moved to Midland, TX where she raised her children and played violin in the symphony and began oil painting: They moved to Tulsa, OK and then to Noman, OK in 1969. While in Noman she lived and worked in Oklahoma City for Jet Oil Co., and in Norman at the Oklahoma Geological Survey. She retired from the survey just last year. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Stanley and daughter Jennifer. She is survived by daughters; Stacey Parker of Phoenix and Gena Fowler of Littleton, CO and five grandchildren; Lacey, Evan, Ryan, Alison and Elliott. Dorothy was loving, witty, funny, outspoken and stubborn. She was an artist in every way. We will miss her always. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley. Arrangements entrusted to A. L. Moore Grimshaw Bethany Chapel.
