All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Euchee Valley Memorial Park--Cushing OK Cushing Daily Citizen April 16, 2007 06:19 pm Richard Lee Sherrell Richard Lee Sherrell, age 55 of Cushing passed away on Friday, Apr. 13, 2007 at his home in Cushing. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday at the Palmer Marler Chapel. Interment will follow at the Euchee Valley Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Okla. Richard Lee Sherrell was born on Dec. 13, 1951 in Ada, Okla. to Jimmy and Gloria (Jeter) Sherrell. He grew up in Ada and attended Ada schools. He moved to Oklahoma City where he met his future wife, Anita Kerr. They were married on May 4, 1970 in Oklahoma City. He served in the U. S. Marines. Rick enjoyed playing the drums. He traded his drums for his first racecar. This racecar started his career in drag racing. He raced on the NHRA schedule in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Rick was the first top fuel funny car to race in Mexico in 1990. His car was called the Southern Shaker‰. Rick had an all-volunteer crew; they worked very hard and loved him very much. When Rick was not racing his car, he drove his truck cross-country. He loved his children and granddaughter. Rick is survived by his wife of 36 years, Anita Sherrell of the home, son Rickey Sherrell and wife Janie of Muskogee, daughter Lorie Sherrell of Cushing, granddaughter Gaby Sherrell, brother Steven Sherrell and wife Debbie of Dallas, sister Debra Wood of Oklahoma City, many nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Gary Sherrell, preceded him in death.
