Standefer Oct. 15, 1935 ~ Jan. 19, 2007 Joananna A. Standefer, a well known American Heritage Artist, passed away at her home on Friday, Jan. 19, 2007 at the age of 71 years. The daughter of the late David Arnett and Helen (Trouph) Arnett, Joananna was born on Oct. 15, 1935 in San Diego, Calif. She was reared and educated in the San Diego area, graduating from San Diego High School with the class of 1954. She moved to Yale in 1962 where she has lived every since. Prior to moving to Yale, Joananna had lived in Spokane, Wash. for eight years. Joananna was influenced in her art by many great artists and was even tutored by Mr. Garcia Vargas and Olaf Wieghorst. Norma Rockwell praised and encouraged her when introduced by a mutual friend, Arizona artist, Mr. Claire Fry, and Joananna continued to correspond with Mr. Rockwell from 1970 until his death. But her most important influence in life and art was the life and land she loved and understood so well. Joananna enjoyed traveling to various art shows, donating paintings to various charities, and most of all taking care of her family. Survivors include her husband Gayle of the home; two sons, David Standefer and his wife Sherry of Stillwater and Darin Standefer of Yale; one daughter, Rhonda Watson and her husband Bill of Payton, Colo.; one brother, Larry Squires of Tulsa; one sister, Terri Butin and her husband Alan of Yale; seven grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday Jan. 25, 2007 in the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Cushing, Okla. with Father Ken Harden officiating.
