Maple, were held Friday, December 18, 1987, at 10:30 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Dr. James Reynolds, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Mary Louise Smith, pianist, provided the prelude and the postlude and accompanied Mrs. Liz Watkins as she sang "Farther Along" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Those serving as casketbearers were family members. Interment was in the Fairlawn Cemetery with the services under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home. Mr. Turner passed away Tuesday, December 15, 1987, in the Cushing Regional Hospital. The son of the late Mr. & Mrs. John Turner, Walter was born August 4, 1896, in Arno, Missouri. He moved to the Ripley-Cushing, (Oklahoma) area in 1910 with his parents and family and had lived in this area since. He worked for Texas Empire Pipeline for many years before retiring in 1961. Turner was a World War 1 veteran, serving in the United States Army. He was a longtime member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. Surviving are two nephews, Dean Larry of Broken Arrow, (Oklahoma), and Everett Larry of Mesa, Arizona; one niece, Mrs. Irene Campbell of Dallas, Texas; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Audrey Turner of Cushing; seven great-nephews; two great-nieces; and other relatives.
