He was the third of three children. His father, the Rev. Henry R. Wrede, who began his ministry in Oklahoma before it was a state, served as pastor in several towns in Iowa and Minnesota. He met his future wife, Ruth, also a pastor's child at a mission festival. They built their first house in Fairmont, Minnesota and moved to California in 1951, settling in Ontario in 1954. Harold began his work life briefly as a beautician, and soon decided he was better suited to a plumbing career, working for his brother Enos in Fairmont. He continued in plumbing throughout his work life in California. His employers liked having him on the job because of his honesty, integrity and excellent work quality. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ontario and especially enjoyed singing bass in the choir. He frequently volunteered his expertise in building maintenance and improvement. Upon retirement, he continued part time work on the Redeemer maintenance staff. He was a good neighbor, offering free plumbing advice and services to many in his neighborhood along Princeton Street in Ontario. He watched out for elderly residents, fed pets for vacationers and did many other acts of kindness. Harold went to be with his Savior at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by a daughter, Karen and son-in-law, Hal Whelply of Irvine. His wife, Ruth, and son, Herb preceded him in death.
