Father Paul Eichhoff will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. A rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 in the Chapel of the Garden at Rice Funeral Service. Friends may visit from 8 a.m. until the time of the rosary on Wednesday at the funeral home. Letha passed away on Monday, Jan. 20, 2003. She was 92. Born in Stillwater on June 28, 1910, Letha's parents were William and Millie Lou O'Neal Berry. She was reared and educated in her birth community until her graduation from high school, when she moved to Tulsa. Living with her sister, Letha worked for the phone company. While living and working in Tulsa, she and Joseph Yunker Jr. met. They married in a Tulsa ceremony on Dec. 8, 1934. Daughter, Connie, completed their family. The Yunkers made their first home in Tulsa, moving to Oklahoma City in 1957. In 1962, they moved to Claremore, where they owned and operated the Five ribes Trading Post. Following Mr. Yunker's passing in 1967, Letha continued to operate the store until 1972. When she retired, however, she simply had more time to devote to her volunteer work. Letha was actively involved in her church, the Claremore Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and as a PEO member. As a part of her volunteer efforts with the hospital, Letha had logged more than 8,000 hours during a 30-year period, an Auxiliary record. Dedicated to this great cause, she worked at the hospital for the last time on Monday, the day before being admitted as a patient on Tuesday. With enthusiasm and love of life, Letha was active all of her 92 years, in service to her family, church and community. She will be missed by those who survive her. They include her daughter, Connie Yunker of Claremore and sister, Barbara O'Neal Lowe of Richardson, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph, two sisters and three brothers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels, Catholic charities or St. Cecilia Catholic Church. ************************************************************************* Transcribed from the Claremore Progess Newspaper, we sincerely thank them for allowing us to post these transcribed obits on the Payne Co., OK USGenwebpages http://www.claremoreprogress.com/ copyright c 2002-2003, by webmaster Payne Co.
