All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Vondel Smith & Sons FH--OKC OK Arndt, David "Bud" David 'Bud,' formerly of Houston, TX, passed away Oct. 11, 2004 in OKC. Bud was born on March 24, 1921 in McAlester, OK. His parents were Samuel and Myrtle Arndt. Bud married Jean on Feb. 27, 1949 in Tulsa, OK. Bud retired in 1985 from Ideco, a division of Dresser Industries as Vice President of North American Sales. Bud enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Champions Golf Club in Houston. He also was a member of Houston Northwest Baptist Church. Bud attended Oklahoma State Univ. and was a three time NCAA champion wrestler. He was undefeated in high school and college and was the only wrestler to win NCAA titles on both sides of the war. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1981. He was a lieutenant in the US Air Force and flew P 38's in WWII. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters. He also collected six Bronze Battle Stars for action in major battles. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean of 55 years; two brothers, Marvin 'Sonny' and Frank; and one sister, Hazel Hulsey. He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cox and husband Tim; granddaughter, Brandi Montgomery and husband Brian; son, David and wife Denise; grandchildren, Kristin and Sarah, as well as extended family and numerous friends. Memorial services will be Friday, Oct. 15, 2004 at 2:00 PM at Vondel Smith South Colonial Chapel.
