Baker Aug. 23, 1919 Sept. 28, 2003 Calvin Scott Baker, son of Dr. J. Howard Baker Sr. and Thelma Southworth was born August 23, 1919 in Scipio, Oklahoma, and passed away Sunday at 4 p.m., September 28, 2003 in the Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster, CA. He resided in Boron, CA for 45 years and was a Chemist at U.S. Borax for over 30 years. He greatly enjoyed cars, and driving. He also enjoyed his garden (tomatos especially), and all his different fruit trees. He liked watching The Wheel of Fortune and the news. He enjoyed shopping, and joking with his grandchildren. He was married to Violet Isabel Wells for a love that totaled 58 years here on earth. He leaves behind his only living ister, Norma Beth Sunday and her family as well his late brothers family, Dr. J. Howard Baker Jr. Scott is survived by his daughter, Sheri and her husband, Joe Garcia and their children, Amber and Autumn as well as by her brothers and sisters: Martin Simonsen, Benny Simonsen, Dottie and her husband, Bill Gould, and Joyce and her husband Charles Hall. He and his wife left behind 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was loved very much and he will be deeply missed. Viewing will be held at Kern River Family Mortuary, 1900 N. Chester Ave., on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, 5-8 p.m. Church services will be held at Riverlakes Community Church, 4301 Calloway, 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 4. Following the service, Scott will be buried at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Rd.
