Burke, 78, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson and the Rev. Lynn Snider officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Burke was born in Savanna, Okla. He owned H.C. Burke Insurance Agency. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was deacon and past director of the Singles Sunday school class. He was on the board of directors for Big Brothers-Big Sisters, and was past president of Life Underwriter's Association and the South Amarillo Kiwanis Club, where he was co-founder of the Golden K Kiwanians. He was in Who's Who of American Businessmen, and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He married Juanita Meredith in 1946 at Floydada. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cherry Patterson of Modesto, Calif.; a son, Ronald E. Burke of Sugarland; a sister, Geneva Stansell of Floydada; and seven grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church in care of the Seniors, 1206 Tyler St., Amarillo, TX 79101; or the American Heart Association. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. today at the funeral home.
