All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 29 April 1998 Bette Jean Cox CLOVIS, N.M. - Bette Jean "Grandma Bette" Cox, 66, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy E. Hines Jr. officiating. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church at Quinton, Okla. Burial will be in Quinton Cemetery at Quinton. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Cox was born in Quinton and moved to Clovis in 1948. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1949. She lived in Oklahoma before returning to Clovis in 1974. She was a homemaker and managed her own business. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Glory Choir, the Central Baptist Adult Choir and the Shalom Ministries. She worked with the Festival of Trees and Relay for Life. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Cox. Survivors include her children, Jeanne Seyb Spencer of Friendswood, Texas, Howard Cox Jr. of Haskell, Okla., and John Cox of Quinton; her mother, Opal Winton of Stigler, Okla.; two sisters, Polly Smith of Longtown, Okla., and Becky Miller of Brea, Calif.; a brother, Jack Winton of El Paso, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
