Cole COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for J.R. Cole of Cottage Grove, who died Sept. 4 of a stroke at age 75. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Quinton, Okla., to John and Nellie Ainsworth Cole. He married Alma Roberts on June 21, 1951, in Eugene. He had served as a pastor for churches in Lane, Linn and Douglas counties, and was a pastor and elder at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Creswell for more than 30 years. He also worked as a saw filer and foreman for various mills, including R & R Lumber and Star Fire Lumber. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Anita Groesbeck of Junction City, Pat Alsup of Ketchikan, Alaska, Charlotte Halladey of Junction City and Barbara Cole of Bend; a son, David of Cottage Grove; two sisters, Ruth Cole and Wilma Cole, both of Baker City; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grand- children. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Creswell, P.O.
