All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::City of Mesa Cemetery--Mesa AZ Earl, Leona Alice Perteet Leona Alice Perteet Earl, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, born July 28, 1913 in McAlester, OK, left to follow in the footsteps of her Savior, Jesus, Sunday April 15, 2007 at home, peacefully surrounded by her cherished family members. Leona moved to Arizona in 1932 and was certified at ASU as a Family Health Assistant and retired from the Salvation Army after working in Child Care Services for several years. Leona was the last surviving member of the John Perteet and Lizzie Sam family. She was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation Indian Tribe and belonged to the Mesa Church of God. Leona's faith, courage, and hope touched many lives. Leona is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Big Smokey" Earl; sons: John, and Elmer "Little Smokey"; daughter, Evelyn Davis; grandson, Monty; and great grandson, Justin Clark. She is survived by her daughters: Faye Lafferty, Elizabeth Abbott, and Marjorie Chandler; 21 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren. Precious Mama, forever you'll stay in our hearts! A visitation will be held on Thursday April 19, 2007 from 6- 8:00 PM at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald in Mesa. Funeral Services will be held on Friday April 20, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Meldrum Mortuary. Interment will be at the City of Mesa Cemetery.
