Gragg Services: Friday, June 21, 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held today, Friday June 21, at Mills Chapel in McAlester, OK for Edgar W. Gragg, 80, who passed away Tuesday June 18, 2002 in his home. Rev. Jerry Burnside will officiate the ceremonies, followed by interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery in McAlester, Oklahoma. Edgar W. Gragg was born on July 21, 1921 in McAlester, OK to Walter Jarret and Margaret Cook Gragg. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the 542nd Parachute Infantry Airborne Command. Edgar retired from the oil refinery business after working 41 years as an operator and a supervisor. He also worked as a coal miner for 1 year. Edgar married Evelyn JoAnn Hester on March 21, 1995 in McAlester, OK. He was a member of the McAlester Coal Miners Association, McAlester Building Foundation Incorporated, the OCAW Union, the National Rifle Association and he was of the Protestant faith. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife, Maxine Jones, 4 brothers, Woodrow, James, Kenneth and Ray Gragg, a sister, Margret Long. Survivors include: wife, Evelyn JoAnn Gragg of the home; sons, Joe Gragg of Clovis, CA, Edgar W. Gragg Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, David C. Gragg of Santa Barbara, CA; step-daughter, Mia A. Rogers of McAlester, OK; brothers, Walter W. Gragg of Bakersfield, CA, Wesley L. Gragg of Vancouver, WA; sister, Louise Rancher of San Diego, CA; several grandchildren, great- grandchildren, family members, cousins and friends.
