All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memory Gardens Cemetery--McAlester OK GEORGE -- Burke Burnett, Jr., born July 6, 1928 on the George Ranch out of Blocker, OK, to Burke Burnett George, Sr. and Ida Aaron George. Passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2007 in Tulsa, OK. He attended McNally Flat Elementary School and Canadian High School graduating in 1947. Until age 20, he worked with his father on the George Ranch, and loved the cowboy life. He came to Tulsa to work for McDonnell Douglas. He then worked for American Airlines for 25 years, retiring in 1991. He worked on components of Apollo and Saturn missiles, and received recognition for his perfect attendance, expertise and training of mechanics on the 757 and 767 airplanes. He was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he worked with the boy scouts, served in the Sunday school and built many, many props and scenery for road shows, dances and other programs. In retirement, he enjoyed improving the land on the ranch, building furniture and competing in muzzle loading rifle matches, winning many trophies and awards. He was an expert in building authentic muzzle loading rifles. Burke was an active member of the Osage Territory Muzzle Loaders Club. He will be remembered by family members and friends for his kindness and helpfulness. Burke was a loving devoted husband to Clara, father to Lisa and grandfather to Cody and Colton. He is survived by: Clara, Lisa and Jim May; grandsons, Cody and Colton; sisters, Mildred and husband, Mack, Aline and husband, Bill, Greta, Sallye and husband, Stan; many nieces and nephews, and extended family, and a host of friends. Preceded in death by parents and sister, Elinor Janet. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 27, at the New Haven Ward Building, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3640 South New Haven, Tulsa, interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, McAlester, OK at 3:30 p.m. Moore's Eastlawn, (918) 622-1155.
