All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== :Post Cemetery--Ft Sill OK Becker Funeral Home Obit Violet May (Russell) Jack Age 102, Lawton, Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Pastor Bill Guthrie, Guthrie, Oklahoma, officiating. Mrs. Jack died Friday in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in the Post Cemetery, Fort Sill. She was born on April 5, 1903 in Crowder, Oklahoma, Indian Territory, before statehood, to Mary & Harry Russell, Sr. She was the first of two children. The family moved to McAlester where they lived for a short time. They then moved to Lawton, where she spent most of her teenage years and young adult life. Violet worked as a telephone operator in Lawton for nearly 10 years. She met and married Elmer "E.R." Barrett. They soon moved to St. Louis, Missouri where they lived for several years. They had two children, Elmer Barrett, Jr. and Mary Louise Barrett. Violet then married MSG (Retired) Benjamin Franklin Jack in Duncan on September 10, 1929. He died on October 23, 1964. Being in the military they moved frequently, but retired in Lawton. They had one child, Franklin Jack. Violet was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. She had resided in Lawton for more than 60 years. She loved to read and was a very kind person who loved God and her family. She loved to cook for her family and is probably best remembered by her grandchildren for her famous pot roast. Survivors include a son, Elmer "E.R." Barrett, Jr., of Lawton; a daughter, Mary Louise Seals, of Oklahoma City, twelve grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren.
