Johnson, Eva Luerene

Eva Luerene Johnson June 16, 1919 - Sept. 13, 2006 Visitation for Eva 
Luerene Johnson will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles 
Street) on Sunday, September 17, 2006 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Graveside 
services will be held at Arvin Cemetery on Monday morning, September 
18, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. Grandson Steven Downs of RiverLakes Community 
Church will officiate. Eva will be interred next to her husband, 
John, where both wait for His blessed return. Pallbearers will be her 
grandsons, Nick Silva, Mike Silva, Robbie Heerd, Mark Heerd, Kevin 
Harmon, Philip McLaughlin, Mark Huckaby and Gary Moors. Eva went home 
to be with her Lord on September 13, 2006. She is preceded in death 
by the love of her life, her husband, John Alva Johnson in 1989; her 
mother, Annie Tallon; her father, Clarence Edward Tallon; her 
brothers, Isaac Tallon, Dean Tallon and George Tallon and her sister, 
Lois Pumphrey. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Harmon 
Westerfeld and husband Bill, Norma Silva and husband Frank and 
Patricia Heerd and husband Fred; numerous grandchildren, great 
grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Eva was born in 
Hailyville, Oklahoma on June 16, 1919. She married John A. Johnson on 
February 21, 1936. Dad owned a small Dairy farm, but the "Dust Bowl" 
days took their toll on the little dairy and the migration brought 
them to Arvin, California on July 15, 1937 to search for work. They 
settled in Arvin and raised their three daughters there. They 
eventually moved to Tehachapi, CA and then on to Redding, CA in their 
retirement years. Their generation was determined, hard working, 
honest, loyal and generous to others. There were no handouts, welfare 
offices or food stamps. They took whatever jobs were available and 
they did it with pride. Because of hard work and dedication, they 
were successful in keeping their families fed and sheltered. They 
advanced to better jobs and a better life, and Eva's proudest 
achievement was becoming a Nurses Aide at Tehachapi Hospital. Eva's 
whole life revolved around her loved for her husband, her three girls 
and her younger sister and brothers whom she raised. Mom was truly 
loved by all her family and we have the assurance that one day we 
will see her again. The family would like to express their gratitude 
to the wonderful, caring people at Emmanuel Parkview for the long 
term care of our mother. The family would also like to say a 
heartfelt "thank you" to Hoffmann Hospice staff members for their 
loving help in the last days of Mom's illness. For additional service
