He was 68 years 3 months and 24 days old. He was born June 26, 1939 in Indianola, OK to Loye L. Jenkins and Bridgie Perry Jenkins. In 1943, Louie's family moved to McAlester, OK. He met his loving Sweetheart of 51 years, Joyce E. Woody Jenkins while in high school. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1957. He joined the Naval Reserve on September 23, 1956 and went on active duty after graduating from high school. After serving in the Navy on board the USS Neosho, he went to work for American Telephone and Telegraph Company in Stroud, OK on November 2, 1959, until October 1965. He was transferred to Mounds, OK where he worked until his transferring to the Tulsa, OK office in February 1991. He worked here until his retirement in November, 2004 after 45 years of service. He worked with the Boy Scouts of America from September 1968 until September 2005. He enjoyed bowling with his family and friends right up till his death. He and his wife lived in Sapulpa, OK and attended Bible Baptist Church from October 1965 until his death. He is survived by: his devoted wife, Joyce E. Jenkins of the home; and his 2 sons, Vernon L. Jenkins DO and his wife, Terry of Broken Arrow, OK, and Woody G. Jenkins, M.D. and his wife, Kim of Stillwater, OK. He has 6 grandchildren, Jason McElyea, Jenny McElyea and JuIie McElyea of Broken Arrow, and Riley Jenkins, Miranda Jenkins, and Cameron Jenkins of Stillwater, OK. He is treasured in the hearts of his family and all that knew him. He has touched more lives than he even knew. His strength and love will be a living legacy carried out by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by: his brother Lem H. Jenkins of Clinton, OK and his parents Loye L. Jenkins and Bridgie Perry Jenkins of McAlester, OK. There will be no service held for Louie per his wishes. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Diabetes Association. Floral Haven, 252-2518.
