Wayne Knox Sept. 20, 1927 Mar. 6, 2005 Wayne Knox, 77, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2005. He was born on September 20, 1927 in Ulan, Oklahoma to John and Dora Knox. He came to California with his family in the early 1930s. They settled in the Wasco area. He married Elwanda Mayo on December 27, 1949 in Wasco. They spent 55 happy years together. He loved his wife, children, grand and great-grandchildren and his many, many friends. Wayne is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Wanda; daughter, Karen and Art Fisher of Norco; son, Ken and Sandy Knox of Wasco; 3 grandchildren, Chad Knox, Jennifer Hastings and Jeff Fisher and 3 great- grandchildren. He is survived by one sister, Christine Atkinson; 2 brothers, John and Donna Knox and Charles and Janelle Knox. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elwood Knox. Wayne served as a minister in the Church of the Nazarene for 50 years. Twenty-one of those years were spent as a missionary in Guyana and Trinidad. Also, ten of those years he was Chaplain at the VA Hospital in Roseburg, Oregon. They retired 2 years ago and settled in Bakersfield. Funeral services will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home in Wasco on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at the Wasco Grace Community Church. Pastor Art Fisher of the Corona Church of the Nazarene will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
