He is survived by a father, mother, two brothers, six sisters, and a community of friends to mourn his irreparable loss. The grief of the mourners that he had died so soon was mitigated by a feeling of consolation that he had lived so long to bless and help them. His domestic life was exemplary, beautiful, happy. Even those who resisted his contentions in life loved him for honesty, gentleness, candor and now honor his memory in death as a sincere good boy. John was in the flush of young manhood, being seventeen years old, at an age when men begin to do their best work. It is indeed unfortunate that such a promising and bright young life should have been checked by the sad reaper, death. As a man he was loved by all who knew him. As a friend he was steadfast and true and even in death his face was illuminated by a smile of transcendent, heavenly beauty. During his illness he asked to his friends to meet him in Heaven and when the last hour came with a Christian’s assurance and with his savior’s praise on his lips he gently fell asleep. A FRIEND
