Mitchell On Friday May 7, at 4:30 o’clock, there passed from the stage of action James O. Mitchell in the 36th year of his age, after a protracted illness and a hard battle with the grim reaper but he lost, and Saturday afternoon his remains were born to their last resting place. James O. Mitchell was born May 14, 1884 in Renton, Wash. In the passing of Jim Mitchell there goes out from our midst one of the most useful young men in Hartshorne, one whom the business world can ill afford to lose. The loss of one of his rare attainments as an accountant will leave a nick in the affairs of men that will be hard to fill. He had been in the employ of the Rock Island Coal Mining company at Hartshorne for some twelve years, as an accountant, up until some nine months ago, when he was forced to retire on account of failing health. Surviving him are five brothers and four sisters, A. R. Mitchell, Sam Mitchell, John Mitchell, Will and Lee Mitchell, Mrs. G. S. Riedt, Mrs. J.R. Williams, Misses Sue and Mary Mitchell. The funeral service in his memory were conducted from the family residence Saturday afternoon by Rev. Harry Cox, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, interment being held in the city cemetery.
