All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Greenlawn Memorial Park--Bakersfield CA Jay Sylvester Marler Aug. 27, 1921 - Dec. 16, 2006 Jay Sylvester Marler was born on August 27, 1921 in Canadian, Oklahoma and went home to Heaven on December 16, 2006, at the age of 85. Jay worked in the coal mines during World War II and later in the agricultural field as a mechanic. Then, in 1949, he married Ms. Johnie Goodwin and moved to Kern County, where they raised 5 children. While living in the Buttonwillow area, Jay worked in the cotton gins before going to work for various farms, finally retiring in 1989 after 20 years with Buttonwillow Land and Cattle Co. Jay spent his remaining years after retirement fishing, working on cars, as well as watching NASCAR and cartoons with grandson, Nathaniel. He is preceded in death by his wife of 44years, Johnie; daughter, Sylvia; and son, Leonard. He is survived by his children, Robert Marler of Clarksville, TN; Jean Oxford and Evelyn Marler of Bakersfield, CA; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild; his brother, Fred Marler of Hayden, AZ; brother-in-law, Phillip Goodwin of Munds Park, AZ; sister-in-law, Ona Jean Stipes of Lima, OH; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
