All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Santa Maria Cemetery--Santa Maria CA John Newton 1932-2006 John Newton died January 6, 2007 at Marian Extended Care. He was born in Manning, OK on February 1, 1932 and moved with his family to Santa Maria in 1946. He attended local schools and served in the US Army from 1952-1954. He married his wife, Corinne on February 1, 1958. John worked the majority of his life, doing what he liked best-- selling while making friends with his customers. He was also active in Boy Scouts for many years. When he was forced to retire in 2002, John started his own business, "Fig Tree Creations," where he turned his love of wood into beautiful art. John was a wonderful, loving, dedicated, hard working and talented husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He most enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Corinne; sons John (Beth Ann), Peter, James (Sharon) and daughters Rose (Gino) San Filipo, and Mary (Scot) Miller; grandchildren, Constance Worthen, Jason Newton, Johnny Newton, Devin and Kayla Miller and Dominic Newton; great grandchildren, Leahana and Anthony Worthen; sisters, Thelma Capitani, Caroline Silva and Ruth Enrico; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kelvin Miller; his parents, Jack and Ruth; brothers, Mervyn, Alvin, Tom; and sister, Mary Johnson. In lieu of flowers the family asks you donate to your favorite charity in John's name. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2007 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary immediately following at Magner-Maloney Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, January 11, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis deMontfort Catholic Church on Clark Ave in Orcutt. Interment will follow in the Santa Maria Cemetery.
