Mr. Parsons was a product of the state of Tennessee, and first saw the light of day October 29, 1865, at Tracy City. He died in Hartshorne Thursday, March 23, 1922. The Parsons are pioneer citizens coming to Hartshorne 25 years ago, where they had resided all these years and have reared a large family of boys and girls, all of whom were at the bedside of the father when the final summons came. He had been ill many months, but only became bedfast four months ago, during which time he had suffered intense pain from cancer of the stomach. The surviving members of the family are his wife and eight children - one daughter and seven sons as follows: Mrs. J.W. Hardin, Fred, Pete, Lee, Alfred, Jessie, Walter and Bill Parsons. Funeral services were held from the late residence at 4 o'clock Friday, March 24, conducted by Rev. Harry Cox, interment taking place in Elmwood Cemetery, being buried with Pythian honors. The long cortege and elaborate floral offerings attested the esteem in which the departed was held by sympathizing friends. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Pittsburg County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/pittsburg/pittsburg.htm
