All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::West Side District Cemetery--Taft CA Reed Sr., Dale Arnold Dale Reed Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2007. Graveside funeral services will be held in the West Side District Cemetery, Taft, CA, on today Wednesday, February 21st, at 2:00 p.m. Mr. Reed was born in Haileyville, Oklahoma May 1, 1926 and passed away in Bakersfield February 15, 2007. Dale was a member of the 40th Infantry Division, participating in the Liberation of the Philippines during World War II. He saw combat in the Leyte Landings, Mindanao, Robblon, Panay and Mindoro Islands. Returning to civilian life, he worked in the Industrial Electric Motor Rebuilding business, fishing, hunting and traveling for recreation. He is survived by his wife, Gladys of Taft; his children, son, Dale Reed, Jr.; daughters, Pauline Press, Kathy Presley, Betty Harris and husband, Danny; and their wives, husbands, children and grandchildren. He also leaves seven brothers, P.J., Jim, Tommy, Danny, Joe and John; three sisters, Jean, Sue and Shirley. Dale was known for his quiet manner and his sense of humor. When the family gets together old stories fly. Singing and playing games in his later years were his favorite activities. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the Erickson & Brown Funeral Home, 501 Lucard Street, Taft, California.
