All rights reserved http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************ The Hartshorne Sun, Thursday, February 25, 1915 “TOM SMITH” Tom Smith, a barber employed in Walter Mathews shop at Haileyville, was run over and killed by an interurban car near Hailey hotel in Haileyville at 8:30 Wednesday evening. The body was mutilated almost beyond recognition. R. C. Young who was seen by The Sun Reporter; says he was with Smith about thirty minutes before the accident occurred, having walked him from the skating rink some distance on his way home, which is near where the street car crosses the Rock Island track and says that Smith was not drinking as has been reported. His opinion is that Smith was knocked in the head and thrown on the track. Deceased is survived by a wife and child; and his mother and father, who reside at his home, were depending on him for their support.
