The lad was taken seriously ill Monday, February 6, and died Tuesday at 3 a.m., February 14, just seven days from date of his affliction. Dr. W.W. Sames, the attending physician, states that the malady was of the most virulent form. The case however, was isolated at once and every precaution taken to prevent further spread of the disease. A rigid quarantine has been established, and no new cases have developed, the report to the contrary not withstanding, and there is hope, says Dr. Sames that the disease will be confined to the one case. Precaution was taken to re-vaccinate all students who had not been sucessfully vaccinated, said Dr. Sames, and with the observance of all possible safeguards the hope is confidently entertained that the scourge will be stamped out without further spread. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Pittsburg County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/pittsburg/pittsburg.htm
