All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Helen Lois Ward Services: Mon., Oct. 15, 1:30 p.m. Services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., Monday, October 15, at 1:30 a.m. for Helen Lois Ward, 56, who passed away October 10, 2001. Mrs. Ward was born on May 7, 1945 in Quinton, Oklahoma to Elzie and Gladys Powell. The family moved to Earlimart when Helen was six months old. She attended Earlimart Elementary School, Earlimart Jr. High School and Delano High School. She then attended Federicos College of Beauty and became a very talented and successful hairdresser. She married John W. Moore II, in 1961 and was married to him for seven years. They lived in Delano for five years before moving to Bakersfield in 1966, where she raised her two children. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, friend and an especially doting grandmother, who will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jlynn and Rick Bowen; son, Brad Moore, both of Bakersfield; grandsons, Nicholas Moore of Wofford Heights and Ian Bowen of Bakersfield; granddaughter, Genesis Nicole Duncan of Bakersfield; father and mother, Elzie and Gladys Powell of Earlimart; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joy and Delbert Foster, and Maurice and Harold Galbraith, all of Pixley, CA; brother, Tommy Powell of Earlimart; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Denise Powell of Modesto; sister, Sherry Powell of Pixley; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, who she loved dearly and her very special friend, Mr. Vernon Rhodes. No visitation is scheduled.
