All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Magner-Maloney FH--Santa Maria CA James Herman Wood 1930 - 2007 James Herman Wood 76, passed away peacefully at home in the company of his loving family. James (Jim) was born in Pittsburg, Oklahoma on April 22, 1930. James was raised in McAlester, Oklahoma and enlisted in the Air force during the Korean War. After the war, James relocated to the Central Coast in 1962 to work for Lockheed at VAFB with the space and missile program. Eventually he retired from Lockheed Martin in 1994. James taught his family to appreciate nature, including the Redwoods of Yosemite and the beaches on the Central Coast, spending vacation time with his wife and children exploring, hiking and learning. James is survived by his loving wife Aileen of 53 years and his five children; son, Thomas James Wood and his fiancée Carol Burnett of Benicia, CA., daughter, Karen Wood Brockway of Arroyo Grande, son, James Steven Wood of Orcutt, daughter, Diane Wood Labastida and her husband James of Nipomo, son, Robert James Wood and his fiancée Kristie Stavoli of Lompoc. James is also survived by seven grandchildren; Jennifer Brockway, Richard Brockway, III, Alison Wood, Harrison Labastida, Lillian Wood, Olivia Labastida, and Joseph Stavoli. Also surviving are James' three sisters; Christine Hagland and her husband Allen of McMinnville, Oregon, Wanda Nelson and her husband Lawrence of McAlester, Oklahoma, and Bettye Bost and her husband Carl of Arnold, Missouri. Private services will be held at St. Louis de Montfort Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society.
