JUNE 29, 1895 Last Saturday evening at 8:15 Mr. W. Verney aged 60?, and Mrs. Susan Paschal, aged 45 were united in marriage at the Choctaw depot in Hartshorne. Rev. W.M. Holland officiating. Last Sunday morning a Sun representative was invited to a seat in the carriage of Joe Merrill and in company with that gentleman and W. B. Coffee and Rev. A. F. Hill proceeded to Holsen James' place, three miles nortwest of town, to witness the performance of a triple wedding. A thirty minute drive over a picturesque country brought us to the scene of action where quite a number of people of the neighborhood had gathered to take in the novel ceremony: J. L. Bays and Miss Precilla Breshear, J. C. Boatwright and Miss Ida Petty, and Alonzo Boatwright and Miss Lillie Robbins were the high contracting parties. At 9:30 a.m. the three couples were ranged in a row on the front "gallery" and brother Hill fired a "broad-sider" at the whole shooting match, which made six hearts beat as three. The couples were rather a fine looking set of young people, and betrayed no evidence of being troubled over the coinage ratio between gold and silver. The young people have the best wishes of the Sun. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Pittsburg County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/pittsburg/pittsburg.htm
