HOUNSHELL is a candidate for sheriff of Pontotoc County Subject to the Democratic primary of August 6. Mr. Houndshell needs little introduction to the voters of Pontotoc County. His record as chief of police of Ada during the past two years has brought him into notice in every part of the county. When he took office, Mr. Houndshell began enforcing the city ordinances as he found them on the book. At that time it was a very common sight to see drunken men on the streets and quiet games of poker were common. However, the sporting fraternity hubbed it with the new chief. He cleaned up on the boot-leggers and drunkenness on the streets and rounded up the gamblers and they have been quiet ever since. He also went after other classes of law violators and thereby incurred the undying hatred of all who would like to see a wide-open town. If elected sheriff, Mr. Houndshell promises to give the same close attention to enforcing the laws of the state that he did when chief of police of Ada. All look alike to him in the discharge of his duty. Mr. Houndshell is a native of Tennessee and has always been a dyed-in-the-wool Democrat. The above is taken from the Ada News of Monday, and we feel covers the ground fully. The Eagle takes pleasure in presenting R.N. Houndshell to the voters for their consideration. BROWN says that he thinks Homer's(THOMPSON) crop needs his attention instead of always being at his home so often. Mr. B.F.
