Burial follows at Coalgate City Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at Brown’s Funeral Service Coalgate Chapel. Mr. Ferrero died Jan. 11, 2004, at a Coalgate hospital. He was born July 30, 1925, at Coalgate to James Secundo and Gladys Marie Rasmussen Ferrero. He graduated from Coalgate High School in 1944, and after a tour of military service with the U.S. Navy’s Seabees in the Pacific during World War II, attended Eastern Oklahoma State College. He was a longtime member of Coalgate Church of Christ. He retired from Texaco Inc. in 1981 after 33 years of service. He was an electrician/lineman. He was a member of Coalgate Veterans of Foreign Wars and an original volunteer of the 45th Infantry Park. He married Nelda Nadine Musgrave Sept. 16, 1950, at Bentonville, Ark. He was preceded in death by his parents, James S. and Gladys Marie Ferrero; and twin brothers, Lawrence and Robert Ferrero. Survivors include his wife, Nelda Nadine Musgrave Ferrero, of the home; a daughter, Lynne White and husband Calvin, Ada; a son, Mark J. Ferrero and wife Melinda, Houston, Texas; a sister, "Sister" Seraphine Ferrero, Gould, Ark.; a brother, Gene Ferrero and wife Pat, Coalgate; four grandchildren, Tyler and Sara White and Paden and Dakota Ferrero; a nephew, Michael Ferrero and wife Michelle, Hamlin, Texas; a niece, Gina Ferrero McNutt and husband Scotty, Coalgate; and many other relatives. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Hodges died Jan. 11, 2004, at her home. She was born Jan. 12, 1910 ,at Hart to Sampson S. and Nettie Neathery Summers. She moved to the Roff area in 1940 and to the town of Roff in 1954. She attended schools at Hart, Roff and Vanoss. She graduated from East Central Teachers College with a degree in education. She had been a member of First Baptist Church in Roff since 1947. Mrs. Hodges taught school at Hart for two years and worked at the First Baptist Church as a beginners teacher. She also cooked at Roff School for 22 years. She married Ola Hodges Sept. 11, 1938, at Sulphur. He died in 1947. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Ann Hodges, Oklahoma City, and Roberta Morrow and husband, Charles, Roff; two grandchildren, Joey Morrow and wife, Monica, Fitzhugh and Judy Vandeveer and husband, Scott, Lula; two great- grandsons, Lucas and Jonathan Morrow, Fitzhugh; two step great- grandsons, Chris and Tyler Vandeveer, Lula. Burial follows at Lightning Ridge Cemetery. Mrs. Thomason died Jan. 10, 2004, at a local nursing home. She was born May 2, 1910, in the Hart community, northwest of Roff, to William F. "Bill" and Alice Clark Crawford. She lived in this area all her life and attended Hart schools. She was a Baptist. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on their farm. She married A. M. "Bill" Thomason June 2, 1928, at Lawrence. He died March 8, 1980, in Sulphur. Survivors include a sister, Viola Pipes, Roff, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter in October, 1938; her parents; a sister, Rachel Boyd; and three brothers, Lloyd Crawford, Leslie Crawford and Leroy Crawford. Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Inc. ========================= Tuesday, January 13, 2004 RICHARD BAUMGARTNER ADA —Services for Dr. Richard E. Baumgartner, 57, Ada, are 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. Claud Baltimore officiating. Mr. Baumgartner died Jan. 12, 2004, at his home. He was born June 19, 1946, at Clinton to Richard Henry and Mary Ellen Roachell Baumgartner. He attended Butler High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Southwestern State College in psychology/sociology in 1968. He received a master’s degree in psychology/rehabilitation counseling in 1972, and a doctor’s of education degree in educational psychology in 1981 from Oklahoma State University. He moved to Ada in 1974 from Weatherford and was chairman of the Human Resource department at East Central University. He was the first recipient of the Col. Tom A. Thomas Jr. Chair in Human Resources at ECU. A certified rehabilitation counselor, Baumgartner had taught undergraduate and graduate courses at ECU since 1974. He was named department chairman in 1983 and was responsible for bachelor’s degree programs in social work, human services counseling, aging, services to the deaf, juvenile justice, law enforcement and adult corrections. He was also responsible for overseeing the master’s degree programs in criminal justice, counseling, administration, rehabilitation counseling, vocational evaluation and work adjustment and assisted with the development of the curriculum for those programs. Dr. Baumgartner had written numerous funded federal grants that promoted growth and quality in the undergraduate and graduate programs. In 1997, Dr. Baumgartner was named Professional of the Year by the Oklahoma Rehabilitation Association and completed the inaugural class of the Educators Leadership Academy in 1999. Before coming to ECU, Dr. Baumgartner was a rehabilitation counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission for nearly two years. From October 1968 to September 1970, he was an E6 staff sergeant and platoon leader in the U.S. army responsible for combat leadership and logistics for 40 men. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. He was on the Camp Fire and Boy Scouts of America boards. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1970 and was a Vietnam veteran. He and Rita Ramsey were married March 1, 1968. Survivors include his wife, Rita, of the home; a son, Scott Baumgartner, of the home; a daughter, April Snethen and her husband Todd, Stillwater; his mother, Mary Ellen Baumgartner, Butler; two brothers, Albert Baumgartner, Clovis, N.M., and Wayne Baumgartner, Butler; and a granddaughter, Avery Brooke Snethen, Stillwater. Jack Farley SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Graveside services for retired Col. Jack Howard Farley, 84, U.S. Army Infantry, were Monday at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, with Chaplain Otis Mitchell officiating. Mr. Farley died Dec. 30, 2003. He was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Chickasha, Okla., to James Robert Farley and Mary Edna Mulvaney Farley. He married Tawanah Coleman of Ada, Okla., Oct. 21, 1942. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his oldest son Lt. John H. Farley, who was killed in Vietnam in 1969. He was also preceded by brothers James C. Farley and Alfred Joe Farley, and sisters Wanda L. Smith and Mary "Patricia" Cook. Survivors include a son Richard K. Farley and his wife Lana, Ingleside, Texas; and daughter Ann T. Cole, Houston; two grandsons, Dr. Derek A. Farley and wife Robin, Oak Point, and Matthew C. Farley and wife Abigail, Corpus Christi. Mr. Farley graduated from high school in 1937 and completed two years of college at Lawton, Okla. He was drafted in 1941 and served in the 45th, 76th, and 99th divisions and then left the army as a captain in 1945. He returned to college and graduated in 1947 from Oklahoma State University with a degree in agricultural economics. He resumed his army career with the 5th Division and later the 351st Infantry in Trieste, Italy, where he served as a company commander and was promoted to major. He returned to the states in 1952 and was an advisor to the Arkansas National Guard. He was selected and graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1955. He completed a tour of duty in Korea in 1956 and was then assigned to the Pentagon in 1957, where he was later promoted to lieutenant colonel. From 1962 to 1964, he commanded the 51st Armored Infantry Battalion, 2nd Armored Division and later the 2nd Armored Support Command at Fort Hood. In 1964 he was an advisor to the operations section (G3) to the Turkish army and was promoted to colonel in 1965. He returned to the states in 1966 as Senior Army Advisor to the Michigan National Guard. In 1970, his last assignment was to Fort Sam Houston and he retired in 1972 as the operations officer of the Fifth U.S. Army. The family moved to Seminole in 1911 and she grew up there. She moved to Ada to teach at East Central State Teacher¹s College. She married Lowrey H. Harrell in 1930. He died Dec.19, 1955. She was a longtime active member of St. Luke¹s Episcopal Church. She married Freeman Keel Feb. 3, 1938, at Sherman, Texas. He died Sept. 9, 1978. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, J.B. He was born Oct. 23, 1935, at Johnston County to Willie Ruben and Edna Muncrief Roach. He was 1953 graduate of Pontotoc Schools and received a degree in industrial arts from Southeastern State College. He conducted his graduate work at Northeastern. Mr. Roach was a veteran of the U.S. Army and taught industrial arts at Berryhill and Union Public Schools, retiring in 1992. He was the owner of J.L.’s Upholstery and was an active member of Arrow Heights Baptist Church, serving as a greeter and working on the teller committee. He was also a charter member of the AOK Camping Club. He and Sandra Upton were married May 3, 1958, at Ada. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Roach; and a sister, Sandra Lou Roach. Mr. Davis died Jan. 15, 2004, at a local nursing home. He was born Aug. 15, 1904, to John and Mary Elizabeth Burnett Davis at Allen, Indian Territory. He lived in this area all his life and attended school at Lizard Lope, near Stuart. He was a cattleman and farmer and a member of the First Baptist Church of Allen. Mr. Davis married Esther Payne Sept. 30, 1925, at Sherman, Texas. She died April 22, 1999. Survivors include six daughters, Maxine Reynolds, Dee Ellis and Shirley Powell, all of Oklahoma City, Mary White, Shawnee, Lena Stick, Ada, and Mickie Hatfield, Chandler; two sons, Tommy Davis and Harold Davis, both of Allen; 24 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. She was born Aug. 30, 1918, at Blossom, Texas, to William Patrick and Pannie Mae Pritchard McDowell. She came to Oklahoma at an early age and lived in rural Grandfield. She attended Victory Schools. She and Walter Payton Sherman were married in February 1936. He died Oct. 21, 1994. Mrs. Sherman was a member of Tesca Baptist Church and previously was a longtime member of the Hollister Baptist church. He was born Oct. 14, 1914, at Broken Bow to Tom and Lucy Tyree Brecheen. He was a pitching star for Ada High School and later in the Major Leagues for the St. Louis Cardinals. She was born Oct. 20, 1935, at Ada to Bedford Forest "B.F. (Bud)" and Montie "Scott" Murphy. She attended school at Stonewall, graduating from Stonewall High School in 1953. She then attended East Central University. She and Lloyd W. Daniel were married Dec. 24, 1954, at the First Methodist Church of Stonewall. After living in many different cities, Daniel relocated to Healdton in 1972, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Bud Murphy; and two brothers, John and Frank Murphy. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd W. Daniel, of the home; a daughter, Tracy Elizabeth Hill and husband Jim D., Edmond; a son, David Lloyd Daniel, Broken Arrow; her mother, Montie Murphy, Healdton; a brother, Bedford Murphy, Healdton; a grandson, Brian D. Hill, Wichita, Kan.; and a granddaughter, Brooke Elizabeth Hill, Wichita, Kan. Bearers were Brian Hill, Bryce Murphy, Charlie Lambert, Lanny Murphy, Lee Sweat and Freddie Tayar. Army in Korea from 1966 until 1974. He and Darlene Hatton were married, January 5, 1970.
