Lewis Perry officiating. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery. Mr. Wood died Jan. 28, 2003, at Stratford. He was born Jan. 30, 1922, at Stratford to Layton and Hazel Stark Wood. He was a lifetime resident of Stratford. Mr. Wood was retired from OG&E. He was a member of Free Will Baptist Church, the Round Up Club, and was an FFA Honorary Chapter Farmer. Survivors include two brothers, Eual Wood, Oklahoma City, and Billy Joe Wood, Tecumseh; and two sisters, Naomi Tucker, Oklahoma City, and Joyce Wood, Stillwater. Bearers are Vicki Pickard, Regina Dilbeck, Evelyn Bradley, Lisa Bryant, Heather Pike, Connie Woodall, Becky Smith, Lisa Griffin and Jaime Korzan. Pickard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- JUDY TIMMONS RINGLING - Services for Judy Ann Timmons, 55, Ringling, are 2 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Pontotoc, the Rev. Joe Howry officiating. Burial follows at Pontotoc Cemetery. Mrs. Timmons died Jan. 28, 2003, at Healdton. She was born July 23, 1947, at Ardmore. to Virgil Otis and Cordelia Ann Clark Neill. She was raised in the Ringling area and attended school at Center Point. She was a 1965 graduate of Byers High School, Byers, Texas. She also attended Murray State College in Tishomingo. She married Gerald L. Timmons April 4, 1969, at Tishomingo. Mrs. Timmons was employed at the Ringling Manufacturing Plant for several years. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Ringling. Survivors include her husband, Gerald Timmons, of the home; two daughters, Terri Timmons and Shelia Timmons, both of Ringling; a brother, Clark Neill, Celina, Texas; and a grandson. Bearers are Dale Eubanks, William, Richard, Andrew, Leonard and Paul Timmons. Honorary bearers are nephews. Alexander Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NANCY GEORGE SANTA FE, N.M. - Memorial services for Nancy Whorton George, 59, Santa Fe, formerly of Haywood, Okla., are 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church of Norman, Okla., 220 S. Webster Ave., and on Saturday, Feb. 8, in Alexandria, Va. Burial is planned at Arlington National Cemetery. Mrs. George died Jan. 25, 2003. She was born at McAlester, Okla., to Jody Clifford and Ada Marie Ayers Whorton and grew up in Haywood. A native of Haywood, she was a longtime Washington, D.C., tax and energy attorney. She was vice president of government relations for El Paso Energy Corporation at the time of her retirement last year. Earlier in her career, Mrs. George worked in public relations in New York City and in congressional staff positions before starting her own law and lobbying firm. President Ronald Reagan appointed her to serve on the Advisory Committee of Federal Assistance for Alternative Fuels Demonstration Facilities. She also served on the National Advisory Board for Conservation and Extension with the U.S. Department of Energy. She was active in the Tax Coalition, Business Government Relations Council, the Carlton Club and Race for the Cure. Mrs. George was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and member of the Bars of the District of Columbia and the U.S. Supreme Court. Survivors include her husband, W. Peyton George; a son, Richard P. George, Herndon, Va.; her mother Ada Whorton Johnston, Haywood; a sister, Betty Sue Crawford, McAlester; a brother, J.C. Whorton, Morrison, Colo.; and a granddaughter. The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DAVE HANDY ADA - Memorial services for David Lawrence "Dave" Handy, 60, Ada, are 4 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Carl Hayes officiating. U.S. Navy Honor Guard will perform military honors at the funeral chapel. Mr. Handy died Jan. 28, 2003, at his home. He was born Aug. 30, 1942, at Albany, N.Y., to Waldo Pitt and Edith Rose Bell Handy. He attended school at St. Louis, Mo. He attended Southwestern Junior College at Oklahoma City and LaBette Community College at Parsons, Kan. He married Shirley Ann Hurley Dec. 21, 1973, at Oklahoma City. Mr. Handy served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. He was retired from the military and was currently employed in the maintenance department of Hy-Tec in Ad. He came to Ada three years ago after frequent travel with the military. He was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Handy, of the home; six children, David Dewayne Handy, Midwest City, Debra Denise Orr, Robin Rene Handy, both of Oklahoma City, Tawnia Marie Anderson, Fort Worth, Texas, Brian Lee Anderson, Chickasha, and Rachel Ann Leon, Ada; two brothers, John P. Mrs. Dyer died Jan. 29, 2003, at Sulphur. She was born Oct. 21, 1943, at Nashville, Tenn., to John and Mary Elizabeth Atchley Madison. She was raised at Fox and was a 1963 graduate of Fox High School. She attended Cameron University at Lawton and East Central University in Ada. She married Olen Dyer Jan. 10, 1964, at Tussy. Mrs. Dyer was a teacher's assistant at Oklahoma School for the Deaf for 30 years. She was affiliated with Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Olen Dyer, Sulphur; two daughters, Shonda Flowers, Oklahoma City, and Shelly Stephens, Sulphur; a sister, Patricia Collins, Davis; and six grandchildren. Bearers are Johnny Shores, Fred Flowers, Terry Flowers, Corry Flowers, Rayford Stephens and Rex Stephens. She was born Jan. 21, 1911, at Byars to Ira and Richmond Virginia Harper Gilstrap. She attended school at Byars. She married John C. Sherman Oct. 20, 1941, at Pauls Valley. He died July 7, 1973. Mrs. Sherman was a homemaker and a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Survivors include two nieces, Wilma L. White, Prague, and Carolyn Eigenman, Boonville, Calif. Bearers are Wendell Sherrell, Mike Ballard, David Stutte, Butch Platt, Don Byrd and Alan Simpson. The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Tipton Children's Home, Tipton. Mrs. Kay died Jan. 28, 2003, at Chula Vista. She was born May 20, 1934, at Ada, Okla., to Collins Denny and Willie Marie Gilmore Taylor. She married William G. Kay. Mrs. Kay was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Chula Vista. Survivors include her husband, William G. "Bill" Kay, of the home; two sons, Steven G. Kay, Redlands, and Jimmy A. Kay, El Cajon; her mother, Willie Taylor, Allen, Okla.; a brother, David Taylor, Pampa, Texas; and seven grandchildren.
